E-Bikepacking The Affric Kintail Way (and back on the Great Glen Way) - day 1

Ever since discovering the Affric Kintail Way I have been obsessed with riding it on my mountain bike. This long distance route runs for 44 miles, from Drumnadrochit to Morvich on the coast. So that I could make a circular multi day mountain bike route I linked the end of this trail to the Great Glen Way at Fort Augustus via some tarmac and an old Drover Road.
My riding partner for this ride was my eldest son James from the RU-vid channel Simply Singletrack. As we were doing the ride on E-mountain bikes the stops were dictated by guesthouses and hotels so that we could charge the bikes up on a night.

Very nice! Can I ask where you guys chose to charge up the bikes?

Yes that makes planning the stop-overs a bit more tricky. We stopped at a guesthouse in Cannich, a hotel near Morvich and B&B in Fort Augustus. I did want to stop at the Glen Affric Youth Hostel on top of the mountain but I wasnt sure about charging as they only have electric froma wind turbine. I also wanted to stay at Ratagan Youth Hostel near Morvichbut yet again there wasnt any electric in the bike shed and my sons EMTB doesnt have a removeable battery. Mines easy - its just unclips off and you can take it into your room.

@@SimplyCyclingtoursandrides Thank you, that's infinitely useful! I've been looking at a similar trip. I contacted Glen Affric hostel and they said it wouldn't be possible to charge ebikes there, so don't feel like you missed out! Thanks again
