I'd really appreciate it if you guys didn't 'just' talk about junk food, by the way. Perhaps you guys could do videos on those "Whole Foods" stores, or entire episodes focusing on fruits and vegetables, including Acai Berries, Kale and other, healthier foods. I'm not saying you should STOP making videos on junkier foods altogether, I'm just saying it might be a cool idea.

Writer of the video here, tell me about it. I didn't think this one was going to be nearly as interesting to research and write up than it actually was. This is just the short version of the story too. Reese's grandson wrote a book on the company's history titled Reese's Peanut Butter Cups: The Untold Story: Inventor, H.B. Reese. Worth a read if you can find it.

born in 84, I can't say whether ET was any influence, but I distinctly remember Reese's Pieces as one of my favorite childhood treats, along with the Whatchamacallit

I loved those two also. Once they added caramel to Whatchamacallit, I gave up. I hate caramel. Wish we could still get the originals. If you can ever find Peanut Butter Twix, they are fantastic too, maybe my favorite peanut butter candy.

Thank you for pronouncing "Resse's" right. In New Jersey at least, people pronounce it "Ree-seez" and Reese's Pieces "Ree-seez Pee-seez" and it really bothers me

Reese's Pieces and Cups are sooo goood but there's just one problem with them: They're not available in my country! (Argentina) In fact, I'm sure they're not available anywhere in Latin America. Idk why because Hershey's is here. If they own Reese's, they should distribute the cups and pieces over here as well. I think it's because Peanut Butter is not really popular over here but the candies themselves are sooo goood. I had the chance to try them out when I travelled to the US and I loved them. I remember my first reaction to eating a pack of Reese's Pieces was *"No wonder ET liked these so much!"* LMAO

The reason ET likes sugar is because he's a plant. He's actually a kind of animate root vegetable, like an intelligent potato or beet. In the early part of their life cycle, they grow underground with leaves sticking out the top to sustain them through photosynthesis, but when they mature to their mobile stage they lose their leaves and gain the ability to sustain themselves by consuming sugars from external sources.

The town I live in used to be home to the Hershey's factory where Reese cups were made right up until they shut the plant down in 2007. I miss roasting days.

I actually read the E.T. book before seeing the movie. In the book they frequently throughout the story specify it's M&M's :D Was disappointed to not see them in movie :D

Reese's are incredibly expensive here, and i'm not the biggest fan of it, my favorite candy was 3 Musketeers because they had nice flavor, where bigger than snickers and where cheaper than those but they stopped distributing here for some reason :c
