Well, well. We were waiting for a, “Getting Your Money’s Worth”; saying along with the Mario Coin Ding during this MLB season on this channel. Also, that was a correct strike call by the way.

Thanks for the breakdown! I was pretty confused by the quick ejection and I still feel like it’s kinda bull. Was definitely handled by the rules by the ump, but I think it happened so fast that Profar didn’t register that he’d even received a warning. While I agree, ejections like this have happened before and I could only imagine in the meetings that all these teams have it’s mentioned every year. While I’d say here this wasn’t a verbalized warning because of the point, nor do we Plate Umpire say anything. The other issue is the quick succession of the bat which is clearly frustration with the call then the helmet. By the rule it’s an ejection. Part of me could do with out, but I think it’s just one of those things where it’s like plausible deniability where the players say something and then walk away or and as they’re leaving they say something and get ejected. What it makes it look like is the umpire is ejecting a player who is walking away but in reality they were saying something on the depart. I think the lesson here is, if you’re gonna throw something just to one piece not the pair.

Throwing equipment is not automatic warning, it must be "in disgust." The problem here is that the batter is looking away, so we don't know if the umpire actually said anything. It looks like he waved a warning, but the batter doesn't see it (he is looking away)- so the batter can reasonably say he was not warned. fwiw I don't see where in that written rule it says that any post warning throw is ejectable (that may be the interpretation, but it doesn't actually say it does it?)

I agree with the equipment violation. Of course the ejection for the second piece of equipment is pretty much automatic. However, I agree with Lindsay that the two pieces of equipment should be treated as the same incident. Of course there has to be some limit, otherwise players could just perpetually throw equipment without facing any consequences. At the end of the day, it's a player throwing a temper tantrum like a toddler because a call didn't go his way. It's understandable for a manager to come out to collect his player so that he doesn't get suspended, but when a manager goes on a rampage like this, he has to go too. To me, this feels like a parent indulging their child's tantrum. I don't blame Ramon De Jesus for any of this. In fact, I give him a lot of credit for remaining calm when all this nonsense happened. I almost wonder if we treated both equipment violations as one event, if that it self would be enough to constitute an "extremely severe" violation. At the end of the day, actions have consequences and Profar and Shildt will get an early shower.

Sorry, but this is just stupid. Umps are WAY too sensitive and are actually looking for ways to eject players. They themselves antagonize the players at times. This isn't Sunday school, and what we just saw here isn't even egregious. The fact that "any" toss of equipment is grounds for ejection allows the umps to make the distinction as to a player's intention at the moment. Simply let them blow off steam and be done with it. Especially if there's no direct confrontation. Umps don't deserve unmitigated respect. We all know this is a game of inches, so empathy going both ways from ump to player and back is what should be the goal. Instead we have a distinct separation between the two with the umps beyond reproach. So of course the players and coaches are going to flip out because they have no other recourse.

@@mikecumbo7531, yes mike they do pay to see the players play. But they dont pay to see the players act like 3yr olds when they dont get their way. Maybe the punishment for slamming his bat in anger should have been a good hard spanking? Players need to play the game and not try to be umpires. That is what a player is doing when he argues a call,, he is trying to be an ump!

The text that you are showing on the screen IMO is not something that HAS to lead to ejection. It says throwing equipment MAY be grounds for ejection. And then there's nothing saying that two immediate equipment throws in succession has to be treated as two separate acts. Then it goes on to say an immediate ejection can take place if the violation is "extremely severe" which I don't think anyone would deem what happened here "extremely severe." Not to mention it says that equipment violationS (plural!!) can be an intermediary step. Meaning that you can still treat two throws as one warning. (At least that is my interpretation). Once again talking crap on the broadcasters for no reason. This is a bad ejection in my opinion. I wouldn't say the ejection was UNWARRANTED. It was a REASONABLE objection. But in your video you are portraying this as a NECESSARY or REQUIRED ejection and based on the text you are presenting on screen, I wholeheartedly disagree with that take.
