Don't know why people are angry about the art style. I think it hits the sweet spot. It isn't *too* cartoony, but it isn't realistic. Dark, gritty, realistic… doesn't really work for Zelda. I'm glad they went with this.
It handled it decently for its time. Here's the thing, Twilight Princess, and many "realistic"-looking games tend to impress a lot of people when they're first shown or when they're released. However, they don't hold up well at all. Games like Wind Waker are the opposite. They fail to impress initially, but they hardly age. This look looks impressive, and I get the feeling it'll hardly age.
***** Yeah, I guess I never thought about the "aging" thing. But I liked WW initially. xD Most people just want to see a mature Zelda game for the sake of having a mature Zelda game, I think. I wouldn't mind, but like I said, I prefer this well-animated cartoony style.
Lone Fish Josh sdw4527 Link's always been pretty feminine, and I actually like it. The ponytail is cool (and not completely unheard of on boys, especially swordfighters). I honestly would have never considered this Hero (dang it Aonuma) to be a girl if I hadn't seen the hundreds of speculations already.
Come on guys, that doesn't look like a girl. People coming up with crazy theories. It just looks more like a reimagined, stylized Link. He even has the blue earrings. And it looks absolutely beautiful. It seems pretty clear that they're truly trying to reimagine everything about the series. From the characters to the gameplay. So excited
It's just Anouma getting people talking... It's actually genius great way to keep people talking about your game. Anouma likes to play with peoples expectations and that's exactly what he's doing her and it has the effect of making people discuss your game as i said genius really.
Squid king I hope they will show at least very small bits of the games til the end of E3. I think Zelda U is more or less the last game, they didn't talk about at the Treehouse yet, right?
I actually remember reading a wiki on zelda ( duh) and it said that Nintendo originally wanted Link to be able to travel to the past and the future. Thus, giving the protagonist name Link. From the fact that we saw what looks to be a futuristic arrow, could it be possible the future is involved as in will Nintendo take a little about what they originally wanted and place it into the new Zelda game.
From Skyward Sword, the Hero doesn't have to be male or "Link". As long as you were born with the spirit of the Hero, it could be anyone, any gender and any race. There is no other requirement. They never explicitly say that the character was Link. :P
BUT, **Spoilers** In the end, Demise curses them to be forever reincarnated to go against his evil (Something along those lines) So it will always be the "same" Link and the "same" Zelda.
Jacob Jaime Oh interesting didn't know Skyward Sword explained this i just could not bring myself to play that game the motion controls where just terrible in my opinion and i hated every minute i subjected myself too. Not to say it's not a good game it probably is but i couldn't get passed the motion controls in order to enjoy it... That being said the character in this trailer is male. Anouma likes to mess with fans. This is nothing more then Anouma having a bit of fun with your expectations and getting you to talk... Quite honestly it's genius.
An alternate theory is that the game features Zelda during Ocarina of Time's "lost years", when she hides from Ganondorf and trains to become a Sheikah.
Aahh! that's really interesting! That would be really cool! Especially with Impa being included in Hyrule Warriors, maybe it's a sign that they'd want to do more with her character by possibly having her in this game training Zelda.
Looked like an octorok to me. This looks so beautiful and the fact that it is open world is just perfect icing on an already perfect cake for me. Cannot wait for this game. Love Zelda. Nick you bad. :)

By the way, people have figured Link probably looks like a girl because that is; it's Zelda. She has brown hair, she's right handed whereas Link is left handed and the weapon she was using in that video is most likely a light arrow. My guess would be this is the opening cut scene to the game.

Yes Link has been left handed until skyward sword. Being that most people are right handed they switched it. So theres no way to tell based on which hand... btw it's Link
Well in Skyward Sword Link did look more like a girl than Zelda. Also the futuristic weapon and monster can be from the area in Skyward Sword that had the little time warp machine.
Yeah, what I saw of the game I generally loved but it was short. I absolutely love the overall art style. I was however hoping for a proper full trailer along the lines of the original and genuinely stunning Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess reveals. PS. I absolutely think it is Link but I just think they've made him even more effeminate than ever to try to appeal even more to girls than ever. Think about how many girls as well as that whole slightly more feminine touch Nintendo is trying to push into all of it's big games of late... Nintendo apparently really want's to get more girls on board.
to be fair to original zelda was originally going to go between past, present and futcher as well as the trifores going to be 3 computer chips so the sci-fi isn't really that big of a surprise
I absolutely *love* *love* *love* the art direction they're going for, Link/Zelda/Whatever looks a little weird, but not a huge deal. I'm kinda okay with the futuristic elements, so long as it enhances the gameplay like the arrow could home-in on enemies or have a lazer that shows its trajectory. Also I hope the open-world is more like 1 where there are just random dungeons in the middle of a forest with no one item you absolutely need to progress through said dungeon.
i think the technology in zelda is been used since i think Twilight Princess and it's been handled so well. because it's like technology but it's actually magic...or a mix of both things so it's well done.

Anybody else thinks that enemy looks like an alien? Suddenly I think that the idea of an alien invasion as the main plot is a clever idea (And if you think is stupid, remeber Kid Icarus Uprising)
I believe that the archer Link could allude to the possibilities for different kinds of characters and also multiplayer. That's just my take, and I would love to hear others.
Link is indeed a guy confirmed in a interview though they what you to focus more on the surroundings and not the appearance of the character you play and such and i think that's right

If this isn't Link and Aounuma isn't just trolling us, does anyone else think that this could possibly be them bringing back Link's sister from Wind Waker? I mean, they looked similar back then that the only thing really separating them was age and gender. I can see this game being somewhere between Wind Waker and Spirit Tracks on the timeline (somewhere in the 100 year or so gap) and it just so happens that we see what happens with his sister afterwards. It's a long shot, but speculation is one of the best parts of upcoming Nintendo games.

you dont want a dark zelda game, wth the best zelda games are the dark zelda games, ocarina, majoras and twilght arent cartoonish and kiddy like, and theyr the best ones, arent they? if a nintendo franchise needs to have a more mature game its zelda, and i dont think its gonna hurt to support that game, the game still looks good btw i aint gonna lie

There's a theory going around that maybe you don't play as Link. Or at least the Link we know. Perhaps Link is a girl this time around. Personally I'm in favor of it. Another theory is that it's Zelda/Shiek. Whoever it is I'm looking forward to this game..
No the character is clearly male. I've said it 100 times but here goes. 1) he has the blue ear ring male hylians get when they become men 2) He has the small eyes of a male anime character as opposed to the big eyes of a female character. 3)The end of Skyward Sword basically says it will always be the "same" Link and the "same" Zelda reincarnated to face there evils. so unless this is prior curse therefore prior Skyward Sword (which is impossible because this is almost certainly Hyrule) then Link will be male as he always has been. I'll state right now i have no problem with a female character in the lead but there's just too much against that theory for me to believe it.

supermanadamio Why do you think it isn't insane though? These are VERY popular and important characters that have been around for a long, long time. Many people feel they are quite attached to them. Randomly saying "Oh Link is actually a girl now" or "Hey Samus is now a man" is pretty nonsensical. It's not being "progressive" or "getting with the time" it's just being dumb imo. Thankfully that isn't the case here though and it's likely that Link just looked a bit different, or that isn't Link in the trailer.

Hyrule Warriors... Dynasty Warriors + Zelda. This? The Elder Scrolls + Zelda, maybe? Might be time for the Zelda series to grow up. Either way, I want this to be as much like my favorites as anything else... Skyward Sword and/or Majora's Mask.
Zelda series to grow up? That doesn't really make any sense. It's always delivered an exciting, fully featured epic adventure with loads of detail in every aspect of game design.
WiiFolderJosh Yeah, we have no idea what he's talking about, either. The zelda series has always had a sort of innocence to it. When you sit down and play a zelda game, you feel like a kid at christmas who just got a new system and is ready to jump into it. I'm not good at explaining things, but I hope that makes sense.

I don't care for Zelda getting modern weapons I hope they tie it in with like magic, Link's always had like a short ponytail in the older games it was covered by the cap. I like it, he looks adorable, I don't like the monster though :/ low tect the world a bit
the character does look femenime but Its deffo a young man. If he gets his trade mark tunic and hat he will look more akin to the link we all know and love
I think Zelda shouldn't be too much of anything. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess were both great. But nowadays I don't think Nintendo should go too cartoony OR too dark (too risky). I think this art style is perfect. It's a good mix of everything. On another note, I don't get what the big deal is about Link's gender. Honestly I don't care. Plus in todays times we shouldn't just assume it's one gender or the other. There are plenty of men that look feminine. And just because probablyhe/probablynotshe has a ponytail it doesn't make him girly or gay if he was a he. (Plus, there honestly there isn't anything wrong with being gay. Like... use some logic people... this is 2000 f*kin' 13). I just think the ponytail makes Link all the more badass.
