Of course, there are those who insist that a Honda Civic with a coffee can is superior. I can hear the screams of outrage from the Consumers Reports demographic when the sounds of a modded Fox body are heard.
I just want to say that your car man was the inspiration for me to buy a 5.0 fox and go with the E cam with flowmaster 40's. Sorry to hear you sold it, but it is SOOOO badass sounding.
DAMN! that thing sounds beautiful. I'm currently doing a GT40 head swap, along with a e303, long tubes/duals, and Cobra upper and lower intakes on the 302 in my 96 F150. I'd be happy as hell if its sounds even half as nice as yours.
@diplomatic4 They're just the original 40 series two chamber mufflers, it's got mac shorty headers and a mac h pipe and it's 2 1/2 inch exhaust. the headers were actually already on the car when I got it but the shorty headers are easy to put on, it's long tubes that are a pain in the ass.
Funny how that works huh haha. In the video it has shorty headers, mac off road h pipe, 40 series two chamber flowmasters and 21/2 inch tail pipes for exhaust, I've since taken the tail pipes off though and put turn downs. The rest of the mods are a Powerdyne supercharger, aluminum gt40x heads, bigger roller rockers, e303 cam, mass air conversion with 42# injectors is all the main stuff. Obviously the camshaft has a lot to do with how it sounds, and the e cam has a pretty good lope to it.
@FORDGTFANATIC Well it's more of a top end cam because it's designed for supercharged applications, but that doesn't mean you can't use it on a n/a setup
@moh97gt Depends on what other modifications are done to the motor, if its a stock motor with just a cam i'd say roughly 15 horse or so. On this car it went from 276 rwhp to 348, but that was also changing the heads from stock to aluminum gt40x heads and this car was supercharged so the gains were more significant from changing the heads and cam.
@ROBBY639 Well I got the cam used for 100 bucks, the flowmasters are roughly 100 buck for the two mufflers and it didn't cost anything to install it cuz I did it myself. It can easily be a daily driver yes, but I didn't drive the car in the rain cuz it was pretty scary on wet roads. And this car would get about 25 mpg on the freeway, but it was also supercharged so at 80 mph it was making about 3 psi so I hardly had to use any throttle. In town it sucks the gas down pretty fast though.
@ralatorre9 for the record, Ive owned a 1992gt and I currently own an 06gt. My 92 had ported gt40p heads, f303 cam, holley systemax intake, bbk 70mm tb, full exhaust (mixed brands), tune, and 3.73 gears. It was comparable to my 06gt with a tune, 3.73 gears, twin blade 65mm tb, (gt500), frpp longtubes and xpipe, borla catback, UD pulleys. 1st and most of 2nd gear were dead even. after about 5krpm in 2nd gear, the 06 starts pulling. I spray a 100shot on the 06 sometimes, its no comparison then.
Two chamber, it does also have a powerdyne supercharger so that makes it a little bit louder i've noticed because once in awhile i toss my belt and the exhaust gets way quieter
Well i don't drive the car in the winter i had just brought it in the driveway to let it run since it was a nice day, but since i've had it tuned it idles right at 900 rpm's all day long hot or cold and starts easy. Also if i'm easy on it on the highway it gets 23 mpg and thats making 341 horse and 371 torque at the wheels
@ScooterTuck11 Well I replaced the rockers because I wanted bigger ones, and I replaced the springs because the motor had 140,000 miles on it. But the rockers you don't need to unless they're worn out, same for the springs really.
i gotta stop watching stang vids i want mine so bad but its put away in storage. I have a E303 ready for it and o/r h pipe to go on it once i get it back along with edelbrock upper nd lower intake with 70mm tb. Car is gonna get woken up for sure cant wait!
All stock internals except for the cam, has aluminum gt40x heads and a ported stock intake, and a powerdyne supercharger making 7psi it made 341 horse and 371 tq at the wheels
@SevDrums77 It had aluminum gt40x heads, 1.7 rockers and the cam was installed strait up. This vid was before the car was tuned and it also had stock ignition.
@iam152 Just a 160,000 mile motor with aluminum gt40x heads, stock ported intake, frpp e303 cam and a powerdyne supercharger. made 348 rwhp and 371 rwt at 7 psi. So many head/cam/intake packages out there that i'd just do that, then throw a blower on it or do a stroker.
@sterner766 Depends on what the rest of the motor is I guess, the b303 is more for naturally aspirated motors, the e303 is more designed for supercharged motors.
They are pretty epic cars ... once you drop a bit of money into Eng mods / boltons , and beef up the Susp. Slowfiveoh - had I think it was a 91 fox hatch with the Grigs Full GR40kit Punch to 307 and a few other things ... pretty much any bolt on he could , and his GR40 stang was a dream ! My 98 however is p00p atm ... Work in progress . PIheads intake 90mm TB and MAF to come and Major SUSP upgrades!
@blown87gt Nice, I'll probably look into getting a good tune somewhere. I'm not too worried about the dyno as is since its my daily driver and I just need an up in drivability for now
@stratspider230 I just got a used wiring harness from a junkyard and good meter injectors etc from a mustang forum and saved some money but yeah if you can get the whole works for a decent price new why not.
@JCWWRacing905 It also had 3.73's, the car had a supercharger on it so in fifth gear going 80 on the freeway it was making like 2 psi so i hardly had to hit the gas thats why the mileage was so good, it was 550 bucks for the dyno tune and chip.
@notchbackTX Yeah if you do a cam you have to convert to mass air otherwise it won't run worth a shit, it wasn't to bad to do i just bought a whole wiring harness out of a mass air car and spliced in the mass air part to the speed density harness. I'm sure there's other ways to do it but that seemed like the easiest way to me and it worked great, you'll also have to get a mass air computer obviously. It was kinda time consuming but it has to be done if you want the car to run good.
@stratspider230 Well when I did it I was also swapping heads and so I had everything off anyways, but just a cam swap wouldn't be to hard. Just have to take all the accesories off the front of the motor and take the timing cover off, also you'll have to convert the car to mass air like I did if you want it to idle worth a shit.
@blown87gt cool thanks ill ask around. where does the power start and end with this cam? im sure it cant be too different between our blocks im after the same mean idle like yours has.
@ROBBY639 You don't have to do the rockers, and the springs you could maybe get away with keeping if it's a low mile motor, if it has higher miles i'd change em though.
what kind of flowmaster s are you runnin? did the h pipe fit well with the headers? i got a 90 25th ann gt and i love the way your car sounds right now im runnin mac set up with flowmaster headers no cam but im getting a e 303 cam with a shift kit and a 132 stall converter just wanted to know how you got your setup how many inches is the pipe? was the headers a bitch to put on exhaust what kind of h pipe?? plz respond
@mr50lx Well i bought the cam used for 100 bucks and changed it while I swapped heads too, so it's kinda hard to say. I'd say if you were doing just a cam swap it'd be 150 at the most if you find a used cam then get the various gaskets.
@ROBBY639 Well when I did mine I also swapped heads and did a mass air conversion, but if you were just to do a cam swap it wouldn't more than a few hours, assuming you have the mechanical capabilities to change the cam of course.
@JCWWRacing905 Awesome, thanks thats some great info! What gears were you running to get that mileage? Im running 3.73s and I get decent mileage, Im sure it would improve with a good tune. About how much was the tune and chip burning?
@hvillecobalt It is a good cam with a pretty nasty lope to it, I actually sold the car because I have an 01 gt now but i really miss the lumpy idle so I'm gonna have to cam this one too, to bad I have to buy two cams now though lol
Ezrunout understandable! Hear every one who sells theirs say that! I still have mine but the engine died/locked up! Great engine 302!!!! I had a loose oil filter & it caused poor lubrication to from lifters!!! If not for that it would still be running strong! Lesson learned but didn't have a back up car to open up & check rockets lifters etc! We r trying 2 rebuild her with another block! God is good!!!!
@ScooterTuck11 Are you talking about just gutting them out? That's all I can think of. Not sure how you go about doing that, I live in Minnesota and we don't have emissions testing here so I just run off road h or x pipes.
So i read you converting your car from speed density to MA. After you converted it did you have to do any computer tuning? I have what I suspect to be an e-cam and i cant get a good idle or consistent powerband or throttle response. Just wanted to know if you computertuned
Haha nice. Mine also has a blower and aluminum heads as well, last year it ran traction limited 12.90's at 108 mph with stock h/c/i and only 6psi, now it's 9 so should go low 12's.
any mods on the engine or just the cam on the 5.0? i got a 66 mustang and im looking for a similar sound. nothing too radical, just a slightly noticable lope. it also has a 302.
Which flowmasters are these? Also aod or manual? I have same cam but it don’t sound like this. Bbk headers, hpipe and flowmaster super 44s. Accufab 65mm tb. My aod has to idle a bit higher to avoid surging and stalling, around 900-1k. Torque converter is 2200-2400 stall. TPS set to .97-.98v
Question...I forgot but what's it called when you run catalytic converters that aren't really there? Like if you get stopped and cops look under so its legal but they're not really there? And how do you do it?
