Hey, just bought my 525i Touring 2 Month ago. Really like you channel and like your Videos about first repairs of e34. Also how ist it going with M5? Best wishes from Austria
Thank you! Congrats on the purchase! I'm glad you've found my videos helpful. M5 stuff has been on the back burner the past few months because of work, but I'm hoping to have an update video out soon.
Great stuff. I have been putting off this job for a while. Do you think a paint finish on the cover is an OK alternative? Obviously would prefer powdercoat but not sure I can justify it.
I think paint can work well. The prep is difficult, and without really working off the outer corroded layer with a sandblaster and wire wheel in the worst parts, it's unlikely it'll last very long. People usually get a year or two before they begin to crack or peel. It's also harder to hide the imperfections. I'm sure a good high temp primer and paint can be made to last reasonably. I also think the black wrinkle paints look best as far as paints go and hide all the imperfections well.
Cracks are most likely around the spark plug wells and mounting holes. They can be hard to see without a good cleaning, so use brakleen or a good degreaser to inspect. As far as warping, I don't think there's any usual spot. Likely towards the rear if anywhere.
I might, but I really don't think it's necessary on the M50. It's about as simple as CCV can get, especially compared to the M52 and M54. It's just two hoses, one small and one large, that run to the throttle body, with the larger one just before and the smaller after. No weird issues or sizes. They can be unclogged with compressed air if they have an issue, and replaced with hoses from any auto parts store.
@@MyersMotors true true , yet I’m waiting on one more parts from Rally Race , to get my 525i back running Is very key to either upgrade them by delete ccv or make sure they are unclogged Otherwise the blow by every morning do get some worries 😅
