Woww nice, finally a video where i see someone push it to that level, i been researching about this engine i have a m54b25 i want to boost it at lease to 20 psi, but i scared of the head studs pulling out so i was thinking to put the m12 and make the treads looger inside to have more surface to hold on and since the block is aluminum and it can deform i was thinking to cut a groove on the head like a gasket to put a copper ( so the copper will come out like 0.5 mm out the block and will press the gasket on the block).. it seems crazy i know 😅 but it wont hurt trying if it breaks i get a m62

I knew the stock engine could hold boost on E85. These numbers are healthy. Would love to see what shrink cams and +1mm valves would do.

not much, the cams will move the power band around. There is way more power in porting the head. I'm going to be swapping in an M52 and making it a 3L, going for a very reliable 8-900whp setup.

@@aqib2000 haven't built anything new. Car is currently getting painted and the interior recovered. I have a spare m54 that I'm going to eventually build instead of the m52.

MrDanielsahne yes, stock engine. It is still running. Switched out to a Garrett GTX3582R earlier in the year.

Yes I also only heared that you need to use the M50 (better the older M50 without VANOS) because it's made of cast iron instead of M54 aluminium engine. That would NOT work with Turbo Charging.

I know BMW 6s are strong but 22psi on a stock motor....? No way! Would love to know how long that thing lasted running like that, how reliable etc....Makes me wonder what my 528i could manage!

It's still running. Posted a new vid of the latest dyno. 23psi, 610whp/546ftlbs. Swapped turbos and intake manifold earlier last year and never re dynoed.

How much boost do you think this block can take? I’ve seen n54 blocks ( open Deck aluminium) take 30 psi. Shouldn’t the m54b30 block as a closed deck be stronger????

Yep it’s bone stock. I’ve been talking to Jack for quite a while and I’m “copying” his build with a different turbo and stock ECU and I am also aiming for 600 wheel on E85.

Wait a minute dude ive been anxiously waiting for more vids on your old channel. Ah hot damn 22psi on the stock block? Didnt know the m54 can handle so much. Now its been 3 months is the car stipp up and running any issues these past months? Also for the e85 were the pumps the only thing changed? Got a build log/thread somewhere I can read up? And to add, with your welding skills why didnt you go top mount?

Mario Martinez hey. zero issues other than my cluster lights stopped working and haven't had a chance to fix that. the fuel system has 2 485lph fuel pumps, custom fuel lines, pressure regulator and fuel rail, 1000cc fuel injectors. I had a build log on bimmerforums... top mount might come later, would need to relocate ABS :/ or eliminate completely.

irawk.k20a ummmm I don’t think his motor is completely stock, stock block means the actual engine block is stock specs, meaning it’s not forged. But internals could be heavily upgraded. So I’m guessing he has stock block with forged internals. And that’s the m54b30, came in the 330, 530, z4 3.0 and the x5 3.0 easy to find for decent price. I’m actually swapping a m54b25 for a b30 AND turboing it too, which is why I’m commenting on this 3 year old video of a turbo m54b30

@@dodimolina Stock means "Stock". M54B30 has a stock forged crank - OEM. With a little research... you will find a lot of stock M54B30 engines running around 20psi - without problems... with good tuning.

Jack De La Vega so basically the boost threshold (rpm from which it builds boost) is around midrange and the "lag" (delay from throttle input to boost while above the boost threshold) isn't actually that big?

These old Beemer motors (M50, M52, M54, S50/2) were closed deck thick wall aluminum/cast iron blocks. The US models got nikasil. They've been seen to be capable of around 1000whp on forged internals. Sometimes even more. But 700whp is a reliable build.

Jazz Jacobs Hey, you will need M5 diff and half shafts and the drive shaft. The rear half of the driveshaft bolts up, the front half will need to be cut and shorted and use part of your OEM driveshaft.

BHOmber Man still running strong. I drive it multiple times a week, sometimes 2 weeks straight. Switched to a Garett GTX3582R due to the precision turbo smoking, the garett fixed that and also to M50 intake manifold. Been crusing it at 17psi. Loving it everyday.

Przemyslaw Tomera No it was not, still completely stock internally. Switched to a Garrett GTX3582R recently and dynoed on my street tires at 12.5psi and made 445whp. Going to turn it up on the drag radials and see what it makes. we turned it up to 19psi but it would spin the street tires :(

@@ethanthomas1868 I'm not saying these engines can't handle it, but you're naive if you think all m54b30 can take this, it's always a gamble when doing full stock engines, someone else can hit 500whp on stock engine meanwhile someone else blows it at 400 in the first year. You're never gonna have 100% insurance that your engine will do as good as his.

Quick question for the turbo piecing together. All the "kits" I find are either ebay 500$ kits or 7k kits. Not much in between. How much was piecing together your own "kit?" Because if I can piece together a kit for the right price, there will be a 530i in my garage in the near future ahah

I bought an SPA T4 manifold and then made everything myself. There are no bolt on kits for the 5 series. I am in the process of going to a Garrett GTX35R turbo.

I spent around 12k in parts(turbo setup, fuel systems, clutch setup, engine management, etc) I did everything myself so that saved a lot of money on labor.
