7/21/24 Metro NY PCA at Watkins Glen International. Day 3, Session 4. This weekend was my first time every driving at Watkins, and I was pretty happy with the progress I had made by Sunday (day three of driving). Set my personal best for the weekend during this last session of the weekend.

Car: 2006 E46 M3, ZCP, 6MT
Engine: 3.2L S54, stock w/ full Beisan rebuilt VANOS
Suspension: KW V2 coilovers, Vorshlag camber plates, GroundControl adjustable rear LCA, Turner Monoball RTABs, everything else refreshed stock
Brakes: Stock ZCP calipers and rotors w/ Hawk DTC-60 pads
Wheels/Tires: 17” Apex ARC-8 w/ Kumho Ecsta V730 (255/40R17 square)
Interior: Sparco Evo-L, Sparco 6-point harness, stripped interior
Other: Redish subframe reinforcement, CMP topside reinforcement, CMP rear strut tower brace, RE front strut tower brace

What did you use to get up to speed so fast?

Drove the track a small amount in the sim (Assetto Corsa) prior to going to give myself a general idea of the layout. This session was on day 3 of driving here. Day 1 I did a ride along with a friend who is an instructor and is familiar with the track. I find being able to actually watch the line and get an idea of braking and acceleration, turn in and track out points, and just what it feels like going around the track helps me a lot. Day 2, once I figured out where I was going, I had the same instructor ride along with me and provide feedback. The remainder of day 2 and all of day 3 were spent making adjustments while focusing on the line, fundamentals, and gaining confidence to gradually increase speed.
