Have you used E6000 before?

Julie, No I haven't. I had never heard of it before seeing your video. When I need a strong glue that's to be used outside and open to the elements, then I either use a spray glue that is tacky for a period of time so I can get the piece in position or one that builders use. 😉 I'm conscious of using stuff that has a big warning sign on it after I inhaled something not nice!!

That doesn't sound good. A lesson learned ...

Never used E6000 - truth be told I have never heard of it! I like the cups with the pattern & would not be inclined to change them.

I've been quite impressed with it. I find that my hot glue gun doesn't have a permanent hold.

@@JulieDaviesFlowerStart Are you using the Hot glue stick? I've noticed you've got one similar to mine (although I do have a Bosch one too which has interchangeable heads that are steel) which normally uses 'cold (hot!) glue). Basically stops you burning yourself because it melts at a lower heat. I'll have a go using both of mine using one hot and cold (hot) glue and report back.

It's so simple isn't it. You could balance a saucer on top of a cup if you didn't actually want to glue them down ☕☕☕

Hi Julie, I just subscribed to your channel. When you were hanging over the tea cup candle holders to the camera, I laughed to myself thinking that I would love someone to hand me over a lovely cup of tea instead of a candle holder? 😅. It was just a funny thought! Anyway I love your diy candle holder? I love working with nature and beautiful flowers from my garden. Anyway sending you my blessings from Australia. 🥂😅🇦🇺💕

A nice cup of tea would be lovely wouldn't it. It's really cold here today so I've been making mugs of tea, just to keep my hands warm! Thanks for watching and subscribing 💐

i make many kinds of crafts. jewelry, dioramas, faeries.. i only use E600. i do not seperate and wait usually, it will semi-set in a few minutes to keep working on project. never get burned, never have big clunky gun on table, E600 is far stronger... thanks

That's good to hear Jennifer. It took me ages to work out why some crafters use both lots of glues.

It's quite simple really ! The glue gun is unfortunately a joke !!! I made a few lovely sea shell crowns, using the Hot Glue Gun, and all my faux gem stones and sea shells fell off on their own without even touching the crowns !!! It was so frustrating !!! All that work to have them completely fall apart !!! I will ONLY use E6000 glue moving forward !!! Thank you for that very informative video !!!

So sorry to hear about your sea shell crowns Lisa. You must have been so fed up when they fell apart.

Hey Julie, I have used numerous times hot glue to do similar projects...it always falls apart in a while, so I guess the way you show is the way to go...or maybe there is another less harmful and more successful glue we don't know about to glue porcelain?
@JulieDaviesFlowerStart
@JulieDaviesFlowerStart 4 года назад
Hard glue seems really brittle once it's dried so your projects fall apart easily. I'm a recent convert to E6000 - but you can't be in a rush as it takes quite a while to dry Porcelain may need a specialist glue.

I am torn between the character of the cups and painting them white 🤷🏽‍♀️ I like both options….

It's so difficult sometimes deciding whether to paint or not, isn't it. These were given to me free by a friend - so I wasn't emotionally attached to them, so it made painting them easier 🌸

will E6000 work on floral styrofoam ( the hard type of styrofoam} I have used a glue gun to glue the foar to a plate but it did not hold well
@JulieDaviesFlowerStart
@JulieDaviesFlowerStart 3 года назад
I've not used it with styrofoam. If you decide to go ahead use it you'll need to let it sit overnight so it bonds properly.

I have just heard on another platform that E600 clear melts styrofoam so that may be the same for E6000+.

Julie, I thought when you glue something you have to do both pieces once you've keyed it ie sandpaper. Doing one piece will not give it total adherence. Using both cold and E6000 is possibly dangerous because the heat of the glue and the E6000 may give off noxious vapours. Married you an engineer and I used to be IOSH trained so my mind is a mixture of the two.

Great questions Angela. The instructions said mate the two parts, and then pull them apart and rest them - I guess that's the same as putting glue on both sides. I put four dashes of E6000 around my cup - and four dashes of hot glue in the spaces in between. So not actually mixing them as such. The health and safety risks are clearly see out on the packaging - hence the advice regarding safety about protective clothing. Really interesting to hear what you say about the science of glue!

@@JulieDaviesFlowerStart hi n thanks for responding… I did same after sending u question n the manufacturer states the odor dissipates after 72 hrs when glue is cured 👍. That makes me happy 😃.
