depending on the chapter, Tech marines are the first to request aid from Mars and have a higher likely chance to get a true response back from the adeptus mechanicus, outside of long sarcastic logical replies that are often blunt replies. now if a forge master ever requests something from mars, most marians would jump at the chance to welcome back someone of like mindedness and even try to request favors from such a high-ranking tech marine, all while offering things from the armories and forges of Mars.

I love Techmarines. They have some pretty damn sweet looking models too. But in the lore, my favorite one was called the Crow or Carrion and he was a Raven Guard techmarine during the Heresy and he has an awesome story of his transition from a standard marine into a techmarine after he became a cyborg because of the Krhave xenos

Thanks for the explanation! I finally have a better Idea how my homebrew chapter got their astartes-sized hellguns and training lasguns. Since they prefer middle to long range firefights and leave the melee to their ogryn auxiliary. Their big hellguns look like bolt rifles with las fusil features, they choose this over bolters since these are easily recharged and bolts are hard to manufacture en masse. Still pretty great even underwater! Training lasguns are just bolter-shaped lasguns for fire training.

I remember moment from book I read recently. In that book techmarine of Flesh Tearers made possible blood from killed enemies get inside of sarcophagus of dreadnought. Because Flesh Tearers need blood and dreadnought usually is sealed.

The Salamanders have a Triumvirate of masters of the forge if I remember correctly. Next to the chapter master and the forgefather, they are the most regarded among the chapter, although a well renound master of sanctity or chief librarian could be on the same level, if they are exemplars of the promethian creed.

Just the Master of the forge's presence on the battlefield is noticeable. Bolters will fire more accurately, machinespirits will roar in grateful anger at the presence of this venerable scion of Mars, never letting their wielders down. The spirits in powerarmour will bond together, the ceramite holding back blows that would have slain the Astartes bearing it. Venerable dreadnoughts will find their limbs almost as responsive as when they were amongst the living, so they can show the true depths of their skill. they would be the most senior of the techmarines, similar to the head librarian or chapter reclusiarch. In essence they are just the ranking officer for their more specialised role. in most chapters, weapon maintenance is carried out by the marine in question or serf/servitors. If major work is to be done, a techmarine will do so. same with waking most Dreadnaughts, it would be just the generic techmarines. should only 1 or 2 be roused. If the entire dreadnaught accompanyment is required, repairs to the ancients then the master of the forge would be present. Usually they dont leave the chapter homworld though, so most tend to be boring boring characters in setting due not doing anything. fleetbased chapters would have more active ones, but why would they ever be involved in conflict when they are far more valuable than the chapter master to their respective chapters (barring those idiot chapters) hell only techmarine i am aware of in most of the fiction would be Jurisian from Hellsreach. 6/10 - he existed?
