Hi, in the sou example, how come we don't discard the 4 sou before the 9 sou since our head would be 1 man, 9 sou and we already have a 4 sou, it would be harder to be a pair. Also we could keep the 9 sou as a potential safe tile if nothing goes our way. Thank you
As far as the scope of the video goes, I was not considering safe tiles, so much as efficiency and value for these hands, purely for training purposes. Incidentally, with this sort of situation, keeping the 4s over the 9s for tanyao chances seems to win out in value in the long run. I kind of assumed it when making the video, but I ran through a simulator to be sure, and it also came up with 9s as being the most efficient discard, followed by the 1m - again, for tanyao chances. i.imgur.com/FuZ07xp.png for a screenshot of the simulator scores, if you're interested.
for the first example, if im sitting on East, why wouldnt I discard the 2 Wests assuming it isnt West Round? Am I not unable to form a Yaku with them unless its West Round or im sitting on West? Would they still count as pair Triplet even tho they dont count as a yaku themselves?
You could still keep them as a pair for Riichi + Pinfu and if not keep them as safe discards in case someone calls Riichi before you and your hand isn’t close to finishing.
Hey! Sorry I'm just getting to this. I don't have a dedicated link at this point, but I did just implement membership tiers through YT if you would like to show support ❤️
