My belly been large for a long time (always had one) the older I've gotten it just won't flatten and my weight is being stubborn and hard to lose. Blood glucose has been beautiful until last weeks hematology blood test said my glucose is 151, when I have always been 80-90. That sugar binge has stopped now im back on my fasting. I don't have dark patches or skin tags but my feet swell a little and I itch more.
Hi dear! I have a problem with getting pregnat,is it because of high insuline resistance? Tell me pls,i have lots of years without success and I am taking metformine now which my period are regulated and I have started losing 4 kg for 3 months. Give me a little hope.
I have never been told I was insulin resistant. I was diagnosed with pcos at age 11. I am 40 now with type 2 diabetes. Had gestational with both pregnancies. It took me 8 years to get pregnant. I did fertility treatments but was unsuccessful. I lost 50 pounds got pregnant with baby 1. Gained it all back. Lost 50 again got pregnant with baby 2...was a surprise cause I was focused on baby 1 and thankful I had 1. Haven't gotten pregnant since but I struggle with sugar and carbs. It's a cycle. I lose weight get off track get stuck on sugar and carbs get back into losing then it all starts over. Pcos is invisible...I forget I have it til everything is wacked out then I focus again but diabetes is another form of wack it's making me so weak physically.
@@mirsidaalija2443 portion control, less carbs, and I worked out six days a week with a home workout plan I used turbo jam and turbo fire but the second time I lost I only did elliptical and bicycle and some weight training. 30 minutes a day of sweating is good enough. But mostly portion control less carbs and sugar because it doesn't agree with my body. Also I drank 1 tbs of apple cider vinegar before meals. I have started again recently and have gotten my A1c down to normal numbers. I still have alot of work to do but I have to work on keeping myself focused. This is my only struggle is focus.
@@patriciawilliams6009 thanks for sharing dear m.tell me please, how did you lose weight, because its too difficult to lose. Have you taken metformine? If yes,how many month?
High blood pressure Weight to height ratio Skin tags High triglycerides Low HDL cholesterol Abdominal fat Dark skin patches Swollen ankles Sugar cravings after eating Irregular periods Acne Frequent urination
I’ve been going to my doctor for MONTHS over my swollen ankles. I’ve had every test imaginable. Not once has she suggested insulin resistance. Thank you, HCK! 🙏❤️
I'm on a ketovore diet. Went from 204 to 160, no Ozempic face. Goal is 130. Shout out to all the amazing carnivore docs on RU-vid like Dr. Ken Berry and so many others.❤
You've just made me realise I've been insulin resistant since early childhood but the first signs didn't really show up until puberty hit. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 22 but my history of irregular periods goes back to my first one at 13.
I have hypertension, skin tags and swollen ankles. I am reversing it. I have been able to reduce my medication, and fit shoes I haven’t fit for a few years. I am sleeping better at night, and have lost about 10 lbs. First time in years of trying to lose it.
Man I just got a call from my Dr that I’m prediabetic and I’m here crying because I’m at 5.9 and reading you’ll stories have me smiling thank you so much I will incorporate these tips in my daily routine
I was suddenly seeing a rash of skin tags under my arms and on my neck. I am now KETO, and the skin tags have suddenly DISAPPEARED! I also walk at least 30 minutes every day! Also read: "Lies My Doctor Told Me!"
I had none of the warnings! Except that I was 28 lbs overweight but without much belly fat, I had none of the early signs. I love baking and my breakfasts consisted of croissants, pancakes, muffins and my desserts were cakes, ice cream and cookies. I made my own sourdough bread, focaccia and flatbreads and sure enough, I ended up pre-diabetic with an A1c of 6.2. The first time I knew I had high glucose levels was 4 years ago but my doctors said nothing about it, maybe because the A1c was normal then. It scared the heck out of me because my grandfather died blind with an amputated leg from diabetes. So 4 months ago I stopped all baking, cut all sugar and carbs and started with intermittent fasting on a low carb diet. I also got off my butt and started walking and biking every day. It’s amazing how the pounds just dropped. So far I’ve lost 24 lbs of the 28 and I have my next check up soon. I feel much better and I really hope that my new lifestyle and diet pay off.
My A1C is currently 5.4. No medications for years. I run 3 miles 4x a week, diet, and 2x I do weight training. It's hard, but it's all between your ears.
I was diagnosed with PCOS, pre diabetic and ulcerative colitis. I changed my diet about 10 months ago and everything is improving l, just need to wxercise more. My A1C went down from 6.1 to now 5.9. And my cholesterol went from 217 to now 140 and so on. All my numbers are getting balanced. Its amazing. If i just moved a little more id be in even better shape inside and out.
I've got 4 of them: skin tags, abdominal fat (but I am not overweight), sugar cravings after eating, frequent urination. I am getting 50 this year, so my goal is to reduce carbs drasticaly. This month I quit the refined sugar, next month the grain, step by step.
You've been an inspiration offering multiple ways to get things back on track. I've been adhering to a Keto diet for a year now. Lost roughly 70lbs and my skin tags have reduced significantly. 😃
Thank you for what you do. Until I started watching your channel I did not know skin tags and high insulin were related. Over the last few years I had noticed som popping up now I see them getting smaller. Thanks again Kate.
I am hypothyroid and now insulin resistant. I found out from reading my doctors report after bloodwork. They did nothing about it although I have a ton of these symptoms you’re talking about. Rarely am I hungry. I make myself eat a good meal every day. Stay away from sugars. Increased protein, etc. I have steadily put on 30-lbs. It’s discouraging to do everything right, diet and exercise, but only gain weight. I decided the stress and disappointment was probably causing high cortisol levels so I stopped going to the gym and walk instead. I’m still never hungry so over eating is never a problem for me.
Very simple explanation but on point. Been searching why my swollen feet occured over days and reduced after a night rest sleep. Was informed by doctor that I have to move around as my desk job is taken me a toll. Gravity or related to inactivity. My sugar level is ok. Now I understand clearly the reason. Thank you.
Your ability to genuinely connect with your patients and communicate openly creates an atmosphere of trust and reassurance. It's rare to find a doctor who not only excels in medical expertise but also prioritizes the well-being and emotional comfort of their patients.
A friend of mine was diagnosed in December and died 4 months later. Type 2 diabetes wrecked his organs and skin. Urine problems. And was quickly overwhelmed. Perhaps he had symptoms for years that went unnoticed and misdiagnosed. His skin was a huge indicator and was giving big warning signs. Lesions that would bleed. Discoloration and yellowish finger tips. Listen when your skin is trying to tell you something.
16/06 female 50kg 33years old I had skin tags, low hdl, abdominal fat, dark skin pacthes, frequent urination. My blood sugar is normal, after eating only 111, but it bcs i start have low card diet. 😢 kinda sad it’s been too long to have this IR symptoms. Hope i can heal from this
I got my bloodwork drawn yesterday along with insulin. I can't wait to see what it is. My hs crp test was 2 which is a little concerning to me. Not sure what is causing my inflammation.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! This video compiles all of the information I’ve gathered from Dr Fung, Dr Pelz and Dr Boz into one video! I was planning to ask my Doctor for a test of my insulin during my upcoming physical. If they refuse I now have another source. Thank you so much for this well thought out and spoken video. I’ll be sharing this with everyone!
The only symptom is craving sweets after eating. Had that since I was little so I think it’s more of a habit. I have high hDL, triglycerides under 100, healthy weight, low blood pressure, low testosterone… BUT but sugar tends to react with spikes when other people don’t, my fasting insulin was 9, and my Ha1c (before I changed my eating) was 5.9! Sometimes you seem healthier on the outside then you are on the inside. Get the labs
Thank you for this. I have had issues for years was always told that i was fine and just lose weight. As the years have gone by i have added more and more of these symptoms. Thank you for these informational videos
I had to request a insulin level test. My dr did it for me, along with the other things he always checks once a year. I hope I’ll get to watch you on the ice someday!! That would be so cooool!! ❤
It's too bad you had to ask your doctor, but that's pretty normal unfortunately. I think doctors are good at pushing pills and treating sore throats. They practice tick box medicine. If it's not on their list, they don't do it. I had to take my health in my own hands and not rely on my doctor. Fortunately I have a heavy science background and understand why and how insulin does what it does and why ketogenic/carnivore type diets work. I hate giving diets a name, I just eat very low carb, but I don't pee on a strip to see if I'm in ketosis. I find I have to keep my carbs pretty low to keep all my numbers in line. Probably because I've been eating crap for too long, keeping my insulin levels too high.
The thing I found most disturbing watching this is that before being diagnosed as diabetic I had these sign and my doctor never even suggested I was on my way to being diabetic. I know now that the signs were clearly there I was overweight, had high blood pressure and if he had looked while doing my exam he would have seen the discolored skin on my inner thighs.
@@dannebonaparte2213 Thanks for your consern. I am doing fine. As soon as I was diagnosed I did some of my own research and went on a strict low starch low sugar diet along with time restricted eating. In less than six months my bg levels were normal and I have lost nearly 50 lbs.
I know my body and my brain but when I tell my doctors they think nothing is wrong.. Or they try to medicate me instead of doing the non-pill approach. I came off a mood stabalising anti-psychotic which made me fat with brain fog. While battling withdrawal symptoms, one of my doctors suggested that I go back on it.... I refused. I'm sticking with psychotherapy and weight loss. Less side effects! The funny thing is that people are obsessing over one shot of the C-vax but popping daily and weekly opiods, antibiotics and xanax. My mom's a retired nurse and she only takes medication when absolutely necessary. She's a bit naughty at age 74 as she only takes half her blood pressure pill when she's been prescribed the whole one. 😅😅 But she checks her blood pressure daily now. I know my blood sugar is not normal and hasn't been since I was an extremely thin teenager. I'm also a Thalessemia carrier which makes my blood cells abnormal. My doctors do not think there's anything wrong. 🤦🏾♀️ but I can literally feel it when my blood sugar drops and I get extreme fatigue from the abnormal blood cells.
My cholesterol is excellent, my blood pressure is great no high blood pressure or triglycerides but my A1c is elevated. My waist is 34 inches. My endocrinologist says it’s because of my anemia that’s causing it to be 5.9-6.1 as I eat less than 75 grams of carbs per day.
Good to know because I've got abnormal blood cells as a Thalessemia carrier and it gives me low iron and low ferritin from time to time. Diabetes also run in my family, type 1, type 2 and the geriatric kind. I don't know anyone in the family who had pregnancy diabetes.
I have none of these, yet apparently I am now considered prediabetic. I have been avoiding sugar, processed foods in general, limit starchy carbs, exercise daily including strength training, and walking with a weighted vest. (Ihave osteoporosis.) I'm actually improving my bones, but my blood sugar is wacky. 😢
Unfortunately for some of us, it's genetic. It runs in my family. Type 1, Type 2 and the geriatric type. My blood sugar does weird things even when I was very thin. So I think I will eventually develop diabetes in later life. I've been told once in my 30s that I'm pre-diabetic but I'm now 43 and it hasn't come back. All I can do is try to avoid it for as long as possible with diet and exercise.
Have your Vitamin D3 and Magnesium levels checked thru a RED CELL BLOOD TEST. Low levels of these two nutrients are typically the cause of osteoporosis.
It is so hard these days because my Dr kept telling me for a long time that my sugar levels were high but not too bad according to her. I now feel so worried about it and have been listening to all your videos to get more information.....thanks for all you do......MINDY
I have type 1 Diabeties and retain water even though I wear an insulin pump & my A1c is 6.2. very frustrating! Of course I eat healthy & do whatever I can like drink enough water. My blood work is very good especially my ldl & Hdl. I also recently have painful periods & irregular along with the recently acne (I’m 31) on my neck & chest. Obviously there is no cure for type 1 Diabeties so I’m sticking to a cleaner diet, trying my best to not get stressed.
@@marleyhill34 wow that’s encouraging to know so thank you very much for sharing! I think part of my struggles are from when I got extremely no Exaggeration deathly ill with Lyme disease & two other tick borne illnesses called babesia & bartonella. Thing is it Affected so many of my organ systems my father brought me to so many specialists. It affected me mentally, my nervous system, my heart, rashes the list goes on. Till finally I got the help I needed & IV antibiotics. Oh & granted you could see the tick bite that was so bad. None of the doctors even thought to test even though the tests are a joke. When I think of it that’s really when I started retaining fluid.
Health Coach Kait ❤ Insulin Resistance… * Swollen Ankles * Craving sugar after a meal Keep explaining to the Dr. 5.6 is Insulin Resistance, fasting insulin 100 !!!! while he and other Dr.’s keep saying “ your fine “ not pre- diabetic or Insulin Resistant !!!!! SO SAD ! When these can be caught and helped before driving the body fully into the disease Wow !!!!!!!!
I have all but irregular cycle, and acne because I don't have a cycle. My doctor has not tested me for insulin resistance. I think I am one of the many who is undiagnosed. My A1C is borderline
Anybody know why a blood sugar would dip uncommonly low 3 hours after eating ice cream? Normally, 3 hrs after meals, I'm at 125, but I got to 80 3 hrs after eating ice cream - which I rarely eat. I was notified of prediabetes, 5.7, recently. Doc said nothing about it, just gave me the results. *I'm not ordered to test at home, but I do occasionally to see what foods do to me.
For me it seems it was not specifically diet, like sugar, etc--but inflammation and things that cause my inflammation to worsen. It's all stemming from that and the resulting autoimmune problems.
lol, I just checked height to waist ratio and came up .54 🤦🏽♀️ also high blood pressure isn’t always about food…I’m sure mine has to do with my Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism and no matter what I do it doesn’t seem to go away
Stupid question...before I even start the video...if you're already pre-diabetic, is it worth even testing for insulin resistance??? I feel like that's a given- time to fix the problem at that point
There are other symptoms as well: hair frizz, white stretch marks, funny arm pit odor, under eye bags and blue color, muscle pain, cramps, endometriosis
This was eye opening Thank you! can I ask why you recommend carbs later in the day vs breakfast and you can burn them throughout the day? Does insulin resistance Lower testosterone in a man vs raise in a woman?
When you have them on an empty stomach they are metabolised more quickly and there's a bigger blood sugar spike. When you have them later in the day this is less significant plus they can (for some people) help support sleep). To be clear, by later in the day I mean anytime after breakfast, but you still want to have your last meal at least 3 hours before bed.
One thing I don’t understand, is if I reverse my insulin resistance, get my fasting glucose back down to the 80's and my A1C down to below pre type 2, thru diet and lifestyle, how long does it last? IOW, it’s not permanently fixed because improper eating will bring it right back. But how soon?
Being in this boat myself, I recommend you not think of it as "OK my numbers are good now, so I've bought myself a period of time where I can return to my previous lifestyle." I had to make my lifestyle changes permanent, and I don't see them as a burden.
I do not have high blood pressure, triglycerides, dark patches or large circumstance, or acne. I have a small waist and tummy. My weight is in my legs, thighs, and butt. However, I do have skin tags, moles, and swollen ankles. I do crave sugar after eating. Could I still be insulin resistant?
It could be inactivity or inflammation. Swollen ankles/legs/feet is not a good sign for anyone's health. Definitely see your doctor. I think you can develop Type 1 without most of these signs.
I know someone, who is diagnosed and who is absolutely: not insulin resistant, no diabetes, no prediabetis,no high blood pressure, but they are overweight and have those dark areas around the neck and one on the back. what could this mean?
Any advice on insulin resistance testing. I have always had issues with poor blood sugar control for years until diagnosed with prediabetes. However, tests from 2 labs come back as ok for fasting insulin resistance. Are there any labs you can recommend?
I have half of this list . I started with 3 last year. I told my endocrinologist who is a diabetes specialist and GP back then that I suspect I'm insulin resistant, I always have chocolate in my pockets, and they said I'm not, I'm average to most. But I'm not the same build as most it's not natural for me. I asked for a HOMA IR and they didn't know what it was. So folks do your own research because I believed them and now I'm worse. Take your own knowing to advocate your own health.
QQQ: Can you have different levels of fasting insulin in the blood at different times of the day or is always the same? Can some cells in the body be insulin resistant while others aren't? What is the mechanism that decides if a cell is resistant to insulin or not?
Yesss! I have been Intermittent Fasting every day for over 5 years and I am Insulin Sensitive now at almost 70 years old, no meds, no aches or pains. It’s my LIFESTYLE now.
I have Type 2 Diabetes. I also have one copy of the Hemochromatosis gene. I have asked my doctor if there is a connection between the two and they look at me like I am crazy. I would like to see if blood letting would help with my T2D.
I have lived in Australia for 9 years 😁 but 80% of my subscribers are from the US... followed by Canada, the UK and Australia... Only 5% of you guys are from here as well so that's why I tend to cater to the Americans ☹️
@@HealthCoachKait Yes, Australian references as well would be great 😊 Thank you for such a great video!!! Hope more Aussies will subscribe to your awesome channel ♥️ I’m trying to get back on the ketovore/carnivore wagon to fix my insulin resistance, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia etc etc… I was seeing great results before falling off the wagon so I know I need to get back to it asap. Thank you again for all your valuable information and support ♥️
I've heard horrific things about the Australian healthcare system from a mental health perspective. So they are probably dropping the ball on physical health too!
Hi Kait, the book mastering suggests eating no more than 15 percent healthy fats and high a carbohydrate diet.Is it possible for a high fat diet to lead to insulin resistance?
Don't worry if you are diabetic or prediabetic only focus on ur healthy diet and cutt down processed food and stay active all day ...drink more water and stay happy and relax .... every thing will be fine with you.....
What could be a reason behind someone with insulin resistance gaining weight on keto while counting calories and tracking macros and working out regularly?
Could be a few things. You’ve restricted calories for too long and your metabolism has slowed down (why I don’t recommend counting calories), too much of the wrong fats (nuts and seeds and especially their oils), too much high intensity exercise (steady state cardio). Any of those resonating?
@@HealthCoachKait definitely! I’ve chased calorie counting down to an unhealthy level although I’m doing way better that way now. I know exactly how many calories are in the foods I eat so now I no longer count calories. I was also working out more and more frustrated that nothing was working. It became a form of self punishment which drs reinforced every time I asked them for help and they kept saying “well, obviously you’re not doing enough” You’d think my metabolism would have improved by now though. I have noticed some body recomp since starting on NAC and inositol but still zero shift in weight. Weight to me is a big deal because I can’t ride my horses when I’m this heavy.
That's weird I've had skin tags since I was a little girl and it's all in the areas where my clothes rub. I tested non insulin resistant and I am in good shape. That doesn't make sense.
@HealthCoachKait I had an a1c of a 4.7 and my insulin came back normal. I had a thyroid problem since I entered menopause but that was cured through iodine supplements. Yes I do have skin tags but I've had them literally since I was 13. Maybe it's hormone related.
Oh one more thing, I was not an overweight child for some reason many assume if you have skin tags it's because you must be overweight. I was 5' 9" and weighed only 130 lbs
