I emailed Daniel about the line across some of the cards. Here is his response: Its intentional. It’s the paper I used. I taped two pieces of paper together on some of them. It’s all hand drawn. I didn’t want to edit out that aspect because I wanted to keep true to the ink drawings.
Thank you! Just unpackaged the deck and was also seating here guessing about the line. To be honest as a first reaction I thought it’s a printing error. I will try to look at it from a different perspective now.
Polar opposite of the Playful Heart Tarot, which is what I consider my “soul deck,” but this one instantly became a favorite-lives on my bed alongside Playful Heart. So spellbound by Daniel’s art and the way he interpreted the tarot that I had asked him for permission to have the extra tarot suit card tattooed on me. He said yes! 👏🏻
I told myself that i wasn't going to order any decks this months. I only got through the first 3 cards of this walk through, and immediately ordered this deck just now. This looks incredible! I usually hem and haw about decks for at least a week or so, especially pricey ones, but this is obviously something special.
First, I love sitting at your table with you. It’s just so cosy. Second, you are so bad for my bank account! I know I’m the only person bad for my bank account. But still! Lovely, fascinating deck. And the little bag your friend made!
The plank, looking to have been recently constructed and not very sturdy (why would it be?), that the guy is walking off of in The Tower card is so spot on. Love!
This deck is absolutely beautiful! I kept finding more symbolism the longer I looked at each card. I got St. Francis vibes from the Hermit. Anne's pouch is really lovely. Made with her own hands. That's the kind of friend you keep always. How thoughtful ❤
A beautiful, earthy deck. So full of symbolism, one could spend hours studying each card. 😍😍 Edit: The women in this deck have a Virgin Mary type face. 😊
There's something about the deck that reminds me of the Deviant Moon deck. The moon the Empress is holding really gave me that vibe. Maybe it's the skeletons on some of the other cards that don't typically have one. Idk. But.. it's gorgeous. ❤❤❤ Fortunately I live in the states so I purchased the guidebook also. I could tell I would want it also. So much detail in the cards. I'll just consider this a birthday 🎁 to myself. 😅chuckle It's in less than 2 weeks. I Think that is fair. 😂😂
I totally understand why you are in love with this deck. It is exquisite! I have a thing for sepia colour decks generally speaking but this one is very special. As always, thank you for sharing Simon! Have a wonderful day!
@@the_hermits_cave I didn't, mainly because it seemed to focus on fairly generic interpretations and didn't look as though it went into the specifics of these particular images. I'd love to know more about the background to the specific artwork in this deck.
I absolutely love the artwork on these cards and the many layers of symbolism. The Hanged Man with the arrows is a reference to St Sebastian, and The Tower looks Islamic... like the minarets with external steps/terracing. My only gripe with this deck is the black background for each card's title, and the large modern font which I found jars with the aesthetic of the artwork. Just my opinion, and I can't afford it anyway 😜. Oh...and I love the bag Ann made for you.💜💫
I was about to comment on that reference to St. Sebastian in The Hanged Man. The same also appeared in the Fyodor Pavlov tarot. However, I believe that The Tower is a depiction of the biblical Tower of Babel. And not only this, I noticed throughout the deck a lot of nods to the most mystic part of the catholic imagery. For example, The Judgement gave me Book-Of-Revelations/Apocalypse-of-St-John vibes, and for few other people some female figures in the deck resemble the image of the Virgin Mary that one can find depicted in Mexican retablos. I assume this influence of the catholic imagery might come from the author's Mexican heritage.
WOW !!!! well worth waiting for! What a GORGEOUS deck ! wishing you hours of fun and excitement delving deep into each card, an amazing deck in every possible way 👏❤
Thank you Simon oh lala a perfect snug fit in this pretty silk pouch. High Quality vibs together🌹 perfect state of the Art gift & deck. Simply elegant together 🌹
That horizontal line which appears near the top in some of the cards, reminds me of when I'd make preliminary sketches and realise I'd run out of room and have to add a second sheet of paper to extend the image... not saying that this is what it is though. Oddly enough, I purchased a deck recently which had this same sort of line, in some of the cards and can't remember which deck it is now. I was also shouting at my phone when you revealed the Hanged Man with the arrows, as I watched your video with the other deck with arrows in it, in addition to owning that said mystery deck... can't for the life of me place which deck it is though; a sure sign I own too many decks! 🤦♀️ Thank you for sharing this amazing deck... do you plan to edge it? 🙏❤️
@The Hermit’s Cave wow, think that's the quickest reply I've ever had from any of the Tarot Tubers! ❤️ I had to figure out which other deck had the lines in it and the arrows for the hanged man... and synchronicity upon synchronicity it was the Fyodor Pavlov in both cases!
Simon, thank you so much for sharing! I didn’t even know this deck existed. 🫢 I normally do not get on with black and white imagery in decks, but the warm tone and shading (and detail!) alleviate that for me here. The themes of classical alchemy and mysticism are right up my alley! I will definitely be purchasing this one - thanks again for the introduction the creator! ✨
