A cool scene of Eartha Kitt from The Sweatbox while she was voicing the character Yzma for the film Kingdom of the Sun (known today as The Emperor's New Groove). I stream The Emperor's New Groove (The Game): / osean_man
I agree. Rest in peace, Mrs. Kitt. My condolences to your family and your friends. I give my support, care, and heart to you, your family, and your friends. May God Protect And Love You In Heaven With Love, Heart, Care, Peace, And Happiness.
The fact that she died on Christmas day, and I quote from her daughter, Kitt McDonald, "She left this world literally screaming at the top of her lungs... truly believe her survival instincts were so part of her DNA that she was not going to go quietly or willingly"
I honestly don’t think Yzma would’ve been such a popular villainess if not for Eartha. Her voice and mannerisms were just so perfect for the role, I literally can’t imagine anyone else playing Yzma except her.
The fact that she could pull of this feral, unhinged performance and also somehow have an incredibly sweet singing voice in songs like Santa Baby is mind-blowing to me
"So to destroy our beloved traditions! This act of highest treason has but one punishment... DEATH! GUAAAAAAAAARRDS!!!!!!!!! Take him away!!" Great job, Eartha Kitt😀👍🏻
We always talk about certain VAs being perfect for some role but we don't often stop and think about how that's because of the VAs' part in defining their characters. Could they have cast someone else to play Yzma? Definitely. Would this other VA have done as good a job? Sure. Would it have been *this* Yzma? No way, not even close.
THIS! People don't realize that the powers that be don't really know what they're looking for when casting, and that goes for all mediums...film, theatre, etc. Almost the entire character gets created around who the actor is. Hercules became an entirely new film once James Woods was brought on board, and that's just one example. But I'm nothing but glad we have this version of Yzma because it truly was one of the greatest things Eartha ever did 🤣🤣🤣
Western VAs have always had a lot of influence in their characters. Maleficent's mannerisms came about because her VA suffered from health problems and had to make those same motions when in the recording booth.
Just watching this short clip makes me feel like Eartha Kitt could’ve played Yzma even if the movie was live-action. And that’s really saying something considering how awesomely exaggerated the character was written to be!
Eartha Kitt couldn't have done Yzma's voice any more perfectly. She absolutely nailed the role and cemented Yzma as my favorite character, potentially in any Disney film ever produced.
Eartha Kitt is amazing but this might be her best work as a whole. She did such an amazing job bringing to life such a cartoonishly evil and hideous villain, noone else was as uniquely suited to creating such a striking and unique antagonist as she was.
Fans: wants her autograph Eartha Kitt: It is no concern of mine if you have, what was it? Fans: an autograph Eartha Kitt: Ha! You should have thought of that before you became fans!
Eartha Kitt was a queen, an absolute legend. You can tell she had so much fun working on that movie (and series), and I'll bet the other actors had fun working with her (if they met her). She is dearly missed.
She really was special! She voiced one of my all time favorite villains, Vexus in My Life as a Teenage Robot as well. She was really getting into it, that her headset leaped off. RIP
I always just liked Yzma as a villain-not because she’s evil ofc but because of how comical and over-the-top she is hahahaha she always gives me a good laugh. It’s great to see the actress behind her character!
A long time ago I had the full documentary uploaded to this channel, and then the Mouse blocked it. Honestly it’s a miracle this clip is still up and public.
She was incredible. Pull the lever kronk was in everybody’s verbal arsenal at the time. That whole cast was nuts. David Spade as Kuzco and John Goodman as Pacha. Just insane.
She was born to play Yzma! In the original storyline of the Emperor’s New Groove, Yzma had a villain song called Snuff Out the Light. But since they changed the story, they cut the song from the movie. But she already recorded the song, so it can be found here on RU-vid!
As a kid i could not wait for Saturday mornings for her voice over on The emperor's New groove! She and Krunk were the two best characters! On the show!
awe man. I feel real sorry for Kingdom of the Sun. Eartha Kitt's performance as Yzma alone would have made that movie a success. I mean such lines as "To Destroy our beloved traditions! This act of highest treason has but one punishment, Death! GUARDS! TAKE HIM AWAY!" are just priceless. Farewell, Eartha Kitt. you were the backbone of The Emperor's New Groove.
She was the back bone of that entire movie. We will miss her. Now ... pull the lever Kronk... W R O O O o o o o n g l e v e r ! ! ! *splash* Someone tells me why we had that lever.
