This has been an ongoing issue I've noticed with the BMH. If alerts take too long to tone out, they get interrupted by either a product that's been recently issued or updated. I've seen all kinds of alerts get interrupted this way and it's a HUGE issue, especially if the alert being interrupted is of higher priority.
i had this happen on 1/9 over KJY85, for a SVR that got toned *6 minutes* (1:28) after it was issued (1:22), at the same time that GSP was updating an existing SVR for KJY85 to which that updated SVR interrupted the toned SVR and then when that happened i just raised my voice when going "what" 💀 but yeah BMH is brokey with that, among other things
i hear a lot of others who have experienced this issue with the BMH, i personally never have but it is something NWS must look in to. imagine the consequences if something like a high priority alert (TOR for ex.) is interrupted by something much lower priority such as an SMW. interesting but potentially critical issue that needs investigation
I got a doubleheader required weekly test and a no other radio activation from the national weather service on Wednesday 11 o’clock or 1101 maybe 1102 I’m not sure and I got an unrecognized message. It’s something about an amber alert. I turn it off on all my radios Because they’re annoying at night.
It’s happened only once to me. I think it was a few summers ago when a second Severe Thunderstorm Warning was being issued while the first one was still being played. The second one cut the first one off, and it did not activate the alarm on the second tone. To me it doesn’t make sense. Suppose you have a severe t’ storm then a tornado warning cuts in the middle of it. Why can’t the radio decode a tornado warning if it gets sent in the middle of another alert? How does the end of message signal have anything to do with when the radio can start decoding? I think it’s quite weird when this sort of “glitch” happens.
