I'm so glad I watched, I've had a jade plant for a few years which started off as a tiny plant but recently have noticed the base of the stems hardening and dropping lower leafs.... Looks like she's turning into a tree!xxx

I've got about 30 aloe / hawthoria / gasteraloe and gasteria and it can be difficult to tell exactly what each one is. Think yours is a Aloe Tiki Tahi. But yes looks very similar to Hawthoria Zebra but leaves thinner and more 3D with the white parts if you see what I mean. Lovely plants, so much variety, and yes I get pups off many off them as well as flower stalks which are great because they just appear overnight!

Hi Claire, you really brought a smile to my face when you started the video with the A. Silver Queen. I managed to get one after seeing it on your channel several times in the past. Mine is not as big as yours but I admire it every time I pass it, what a gorgeous plant. I also have two A. Red Valentine which came in the same pot together. There’s definitely room for another Aglaonema in my life, they are so easy care.

I find my philo micans is just the easiest, most chill, fast growing plant. So rewarding especially when you compare it to the absolute heartbreak that is attempting to grow a melanochrysum lol. I have a few micans now, trailing and growing up a moss pole and the one on the pole is sizing up really nicely, honestly love the wee guy.

Right? I am growing a Micans from a tiny cutting. It's taken off this summer way more than even my Brasil. I remember I struggled with the Brasil for almost a year cause it kept getting rot, or it just won't grow and I had to start it over several times, so I was expecting the same from Micans. Nope! It rooted so fast! It's trailing already! The leaves sized up, too.

my raphidophora terasperma and aglaonema silver lady have grown rapidly in very low light. my raphidophora was climbing the wall behind tv and there's no windows or growth lights close to it and it's not even a bright room in general. the gaps between leaves were longer than usual but the leaves were still well fenestrated and big.

Thanks Claire, that was a really nice selection of 'chill' plants 👌🏼I have 5 Aglaonema varieties for exactly that reason as they give you so much beauty for so little effort 🤭 I have to say that my most chilled plants have to be all my Peperomia varieties including the rippled ones as well as the Rain Drop AND my Dieffenbachia collection. No need to water until almost dry and if you fertilise they deliver huge stunning leaves. Mine are still pushing out new growth and we're in autumn now (Sydney). We have heaps of humidity atm despite the slightly cooler temps and they seem to be thriving 👏🏼💖

I'm only just getting into plants. Before I started doing more research, I've managed to kill/"almost kill" several "easy" plants, however there's two that were always thriving for me. One is the clivia miniata and the other the aloe aristata :) The latter I've had for probably close to 15 years now and it flowers every year :D

Hi Claire, thanks for your videos. I also have a beautiful silver sword. Do you ever get that sticky sap on yours? I don’t have any pests and it’s growing well so I’m not sure what that is some people said it’s scale but I do not see any leaf damage or pests on the plant and it’s growing fine, but it does have that sticky liquid on some of the stems
@liviaw6216
@liviaw6216 Год назад
Sap on philodendrons is completely natural. In the wild, the plant uses the sap to attract ants, so that the ants can take care of pests.

This is a bit of an odd one, but I actually have a Cordyline Australis red star growing on my window cil, and they're usually grown outdoors here in the UK, as you know. My mom used to have it in her garden, but because of how intense this winter had been, it had started to die back from cold damage (Cordyline is only tolerant down to -9C, and it got down to -12C). I've had it since the cold snap, and I've only watered it a handful of times (it's in my neglect room, aka the other bedroom, and i only go in there about once a month unless I need to do an insect treatment on my bedroom collection), but it's given me quite a lot of growth. Like, it's not an insane amount of growth, but I don't go in there frequently, so when I went in there last time and saw how much it had given, I was genuinely taken aback. Also, they grow differently indoors vs outdoors, too. The structure doesn't really change, but the way the leaf forms and falls is so much softer than what they look outdoors. Like, outdoor cordylines looks sharp and ridged, but indoors, my ones leaves have kinda wrapped around the base a little more, and it has more of a waterfall effect instead of that intense spike that it gave my mom. You can actually see the difference too- The old leaves that were grown outdoors have a much sharper formation angle than the ones that it's given me indoors, and I just find that so interesting and funky.

Learned that one can identify plants by their flowers. My plant that was labeled Aloe Tiki, looks just like your 3rd plant had blooms when I bought it. Just Google pics of aloe vs haworthia flowers. It is an aloe, at least mine is for sure.

I really struggle with my Silver Sword! Ive had it for months now and the biggest leaf is the length of my pinky. It pushes out new leaves every other week but they immediately fall off. Not sure whats happening because all my other philos are happy 🙈 I repotted it about a month ago into a better soil mix and it's still doing the same thing 🥲

I agree that that plant is an aloe because of the “teeth” along the edge of the leaves. Haworthias do not have teeth along the leaf margins.

I m no expert at all. Just reading some articles. I think, i saw some "teeth" on the plant. Thats mostly common for Aloe. The high grows also speaks for Aloe. Most Haworthias doesn't grow as wide or high like aloes. Maybe it blooms soon, thats the easiest way to tell what plant it is
