Do you have empty rice or feed bags? Don’t throw them away, upcycle to create your own reusable bag! This isn’t a new concept, but after researching and testing several different methods, I’ve come up with the easiest way to sew a bag that doesn’t take too much skill.
Don’t have rice or feeds bags? Ask around! I’m sure a friend, relative or neighbor have some to share.
If you’re using feed bags, make sure to clean the inside with soap and water and let it dry completely before using.
Depending on the thickness of your bag, stacking layers together can be hard on your sewing machine needle. If your needle struggles to pierce through all layers, I suggest you manually run the stitches until you get to a spot where the needles pierces all layers easily. In the beginning I tried to forcing the needle through with the foot pedal, but my needle broke. Don’t make the same mistake I made!
I took the bags for a spin at my local market and I received compliments from the cashier and bag boys. 😊 Yay!
