This video inspired me to do the tire swap myself. I was absolutely thrilled when my tire arrived from TFL shop with a ton of awesome swag that Brandon threw in for me with a hand-written note! I couldn't believe all the cool stuff you guys sent, custom Brodi Pokémon card, TFL rolling papers, stickers, iron-ons,a koozie, a stress ball, a key chain, a bracelet and a sweet Float Life tire cap. You guys are my heroes. Mad love from Texas. For those of you who may be like me and thought that this was a little above your comfort level; I would encourage you to press on, the video walks you through absolutely every step, when in doubt watch it again. I can't stress enough how much easier taking off the Vega tire is when you follow the exact instructions Jeff lays out in the video and you'll be home free.
Notes for things I missed or was confused by in the video: * the anti-fatigue mat as a surface for kneeling and protecting the hub is a MUST * Pedro's tire levers also deserve to be called out, was able to get some locally from REI for $6 * If you happen to use green Slime brand sealant, the underside of the cap has a valve core removal tool built in * wooden blocks should support the edges of the rim, not just the tire, because you don't want that rim (or cable) getting smashed into the floor during your stomp * the stomp takes some force, but not a crazy amount. it's about follow-through more than hitting it really hard. * not tightening the hub bolts fully until the axle cover plates are on * my tire initially wasn't pressurizing at all, I had to kinda smush it around until I heard the air compressor start to work harder * I used Sprayway glass cleaner as a lube, which worked perfectly. one side set at about 30psi, the other about 45psi
My stock Vega took an absurd amount of force to un-seat, I ended up standing on top of the wooden post and jumping. It was a chore The Enduro I put on is a LOT softer, especially the sidewalls. It set at 15psi (about 17psi for the other side) for me, and it was a whole lot easier to un-seat (I tried with it too, to see if it was me or the Vega lol). In the end, it's not too bad, but I'll get the proper tool next time lol
Just finished replacing my stock tire with the Burris trail pro tire. If I had to give folks tips I would say that the hardest part by far is getting the new tire entirely on the hub. Something that helps significantly is getting the painted side hot, hotter than you think because it makes it easier to move and then try really hard. Best of luck too all you future tire changers out there!!! -o-
14:18 aligning paint with valve stem on Enduro tire results in reverse rotation for directional tread; many comments out there that reversed tire is not an issue however. All in all a good video and tire changed worked on a late version of XR that had one additional connector harness than video, aside from the alignment/rotation with Enduro.
Just got a new Maxxis 6.5 on my XR with this video's guidance. That whole "finesse with the tire lever, tire in the channel" thing was a TOTAL lifesaver. Thanks!
Thanks for this video Jeff!! Did my first tire change today and I now feel super comfortable taking my board apart. Getting that VEGA off is a real hassle wow!
"Don't forget to to turn your tab so you know which beer is yours!" BRO! I've been doing this for years and never met anyone else who does this! I literally just yelled at my screen 😂
Hahahahaha! When I first got to Sac, Jeff and I turned our beers the same way and had to have an old western standoff to choose who switched. I now turn my beers to the left instead of the right 😂😂😂🤙 -BH
Dude my hole stem popped out! So I’m like let’s watch a video on how to put it back in…… long story (very) short, looks like I’m paying for shipping and handling 😅
By FAR the best tire change video out there. And fantastic advice from a TRUE PRO! Thanks for making this guys! Wish I would have had it 6 months ago when I changed my own at home. FLOAT ON! 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Awesome video! Just received my Whisper 6 and had no idea how to change the tire. Jeff makes it look so easy that I was sure it would be much harder than it looked. I'm so stoked that by following this video exactly, the tire change was a breeze! Thank you so much for the video Jeff!!
New OW rider here! I recently bought some of your plates and sidekicks to protect a lightly used V1 (36 original miles) I've already doubled the miles in less than a week. Super stoked about the mini paper airplane kit and beer cozy sent with my order! The original owner must have floated on 5 psi, since he had it because the tire seems warped after I inflated it to 20psi, and wobbles at anything over 10 mph. With the plates and sidekicks installed, my V1 looks almost pristine minus the old vega tire. A fresh Trail Pro or Xtra Rad tire would totally inflate my new love for the OW. Already considering purchasing an XR or Two-X battery to extend the range so I can float further! Thanks for your consideration, Richmond V
I need that Xtra Rad for my commute! Took my sister in from Tennessee to help her get out of an abusive relationship and am letting her use my car! This tire would make my commute waaaaay more enjoyable!!! PS y’all are awesome!!!!
I’ve watched this video so many times for all my tire swaps, and I’ll get frustrated with whatever’s going on and watching this video, all the movements in combination with the music is just so relaxing and satisfying
Absolutely best OneWheel tire change tutorial. I definitely need the XtraRad Tire - Pint 🍻 I want a more stable ride. The Pint is just a little to squirrely for me.
Great video - thanks for posting! Super easy to follow along. One point to add - make sure to connect the barrel connector plugs into the right spot when putting it back together! I didn't realize the first time I did they are color coded. Also, works just as easy with a bike pump.
Just picked up a pint from a new dealer in Wisconsin. Been great to feed my snowboarding/carving itch! I’d love to see what they hype is about with the Burris XrraRad tire and put it thru the ringer. Keep up the great work and great videos 🙏🏽 I even already have the blue magic stay a float bottle waiting!
My XR won't even be here for another week but I already ordered this tire and the pro tool kit from C&R. Sounds like that stock tire lasts a long time tho. Thx for the vid! Super SUPER helpful!!
I know a guy whose been riding a t11 for quite some time, he’s the best kid in the neighborhood, although the lore is often misunderstood, he had to forge his own floating beams, to enable the tires seams, to fit between his foot pads, for the ride of his dreams. For this balanced blend, and perfect tend, enabled him to nudge, over things I (a mere mortal) could never recommend, through these actions he has shown many another that this floating lifestyle is far more than a trend, a device from the future that fiction will never quite comprehend.
Best Onewheel tire change video out there ! I’ve probably watched your previous tire change video 10 times . I can’t wait to try the TFL Trail Pro tire !!
Just completed my first tire change...have the Enduro on my XR....looking forward to riding, Thanks Jeff..couldn't have done it without this video!!!!!
LEGIT TUTORIAL! Straight forward instructions and good visuals. Thank you for this. I feel like I can tackle this myself now. THANKS for sharing your tips with hand placement etc. and of course that dry McCosker humor :) I want that new Burris treaded- it’s already my favorite tire. If y’all did extra R&D I’m sure it’s even better, mmmmk! Float on, my guy! 🤘😘
My original Vega is starting to get really worn out after about 1200km. Threads are staring showing and uneven sides of the wheel. I would really like to replace it with a Trail Pro as I am almost always offroad when not commuting. Really good video for tire swap. 👌 Probably the best one I have seen yet. Keep doing awesome stuff! 😁
I did this thing two days ago, and now youtube algorithm tells that there is a video. I could have saved an hour of my time sweating while wresting with the old vega. Oh well, good video for others.
Thanks, followed this video to help me do my first tire change. Went from the stock Vega to Burris Trail Pro, it is sweeet. Thanks for the video, getting the tire off by smacking that wood eas especially helpful :) Got scary when I was pumping it as the psi increased but it poped in there. Can't wait to really test it out. Thanks guys.
I would like the trail pro! I live in Tahoe and the diverse array of mountain bike trails will pair nicely with that tire! Just decked out my board with V3 float plates, a Kush Pad and Fender deletes so this tire will be the perfect TFL addition to my board. You guys rock!
Last night I followed this video to a T and my Enduro install was flawless! Thanks to TFL for this vid for sure! The toughest part for me was making sure I put my Enduro on the hub in the right direction as it's a directional tire.
i always ride on parks where there is a lot of grass, and the vega slick tire makes it a little harder if there is little hill to climb and also i find the tires with tread much more robust end beautiful on onewheel. I've seen a video where this guys said that the onewheel is much more maneuverable with this burris treaded tire. thanks!!!
The Burris Treaded changed my whole trail experience, it is so much more stable on the dirt Gnar. This tire has made me want only technical trails, I can't get enough! Looking so forward to Float Life's improvement on perfection!
I want that Trail Pro! Cause trail riding is the best part of the Onewheel! Would love to try this new compound. Currently running the Burris treaded and love it. Would love to see how much better the trail pro is.
Wow Jeff, LOVE the updated tire change video- the video quality is catching up with your Onewheeling skills! I'd love to try out that Burris x TFL XtraRad.
Hey Jeff! Thanks for making sweet blue float plates! My favorite color. Anyway need that new trail tire so I can run from zombies. This corona has me thinking like walking dead is becoming more real.
OK. Just did my first tire change. This helped A LOT. I would just add that the most important tool was left out. Shop vac. Not everyone will be working on a brand new board.
Thanks for this! Just bought mine and was concerned how to change the tire when I needed to, seems pretty darn easy. Will definitely need to pick up a tire from you all as I want to do more trail riding than anything with mine. CAN'T WAIT TO GET MINE, I JUST ORDERED IT 20 MINUTES AGO!! :D
Easy peasy just did it with a floor pump lol PS: miss ya Jeff! Hope pandemic is treating you ok lol I'll come to shop soon. I still need some threads retapped. Lets ride soon.
Burris trail pro would be awesome! I live in an area surrounded by muddy trails and metroparks that I would love to explore deeper, a treaded tire would certainly be useful.
A trial pro would be awesome! Just got in to trail riding and my xr is a bit squerly on the stock wheel, but loving it all the same. Keep up the stoke!
I would love any tire. I ride every single day and actually bought my Onewheel to help Me with my job. Today I ordered a second XR for my wife. These things have changed my life, no joke. The Xtra rad would be my choice as I currently have a Burris treaded on but I’m learning I like the street/ freestyle riding best.
This was a great tutorial. Got the Hoosier T2 from you. I have like 4 sets of Allen wrenches, they all went into hiding. Took apart the board, didn't realize how much mud gets in there. Did the two board tire stomp that was fun. A little struggle, popped the tire and go green goo all over me like I just took a Bukake from The Hulk. New tire slid on in and popped at 55 PSI. I didnt have a valve stem remover so I poured in the goo from the bead area then inflated. Then deflated to 18 PSI .
Looking forward to getting my hands on that Burris Trail Pro tire. My stock Vega is slipping on wet trails and feels "squirrely" at speed on paved roads.... :(
Great video! Nice step by step instruction! Planning on riding to work for the first time. Mapped out city pavement but hitting trails along the way with a TFL TRAILNPRO would be WAAAAYY more fun. FLOAT ON!
Would love to carve on the extra rad, abs excited to try the install following this video step by step. Looks like a hefty job, but your tutorial was very thorough!!
I definitely need a better Pint tire. I hate the wobble on the street and haven't been getting good traction on the trail. Looking for the best recommendation. If it's the Xtra Rad, then that's what I want. Been riding every day since WFH started. It's been great!
The trail pro would be awesome to have! I live on a reservation in San Diego and there are so many trails to ride, I ride to my families houses to go visit them during quarantine, it’s a hop skip and a jump on my pint. I usually go to the park and let the little kids ride it they’ve never seen anything like it 😂
Can't thank you enough for this. Just followed it and changed my first tire because my original was simply worn through and leaking slime like a shower head. No way I would have figured this out on my own, I would have had to send it in.
Great tutorial! Thanks so much. I noticed no mention of thread locking glue. Curious if you’d recommend that for all screws? Also it wasn’t mentioned in the video how to make sure your tire tread is oriented correctly. I didn’t have a valve stem remover and it’s worth noting it wasn’t necessary to remove the old tire. Anyhow those are my recommendations to be included in the next vid! Thanks again! I’m now riding on my new XR enduro i picked up from you directly in sac! It’s great! Thanks
Need the XtraRad for my Pint because I'm old and need a more stable ride at speed and want to hit the trails in OREGON. I hear how great the XtraRad is for ALL terrains! I'll name my first grandchild after you. I'll write you in for President. My wife will personally thank you for making me stop with the whining about not having the XtraRad.
