so we did everything like both videos said to do now that everything is reassembled when we turn it over it doesn't start its getting a spark we also compression tested it it has a new carburetor on it as well as a new gas vacuum diaphragm. when we spray a tad of starting fluid in it it will start up we don't know where to go from there

I have 222 horse Kohler 0 ton mower. Both of them have no adjustment they run full throttle all the time. Should I replace the governor since I’ve been running these mowers for five or six years full throttle.

Its too bad Krohler turned their engines into"bucket"engines. This is why I buy Honda or Kawasaki engines,the Briggs Vangaurd is a decent engine too.

Briggs Vanguard i love them engines ,easy to work on ,not much to do with them but change oil and maintenance. never had Honda or Kawasaki engine on mower , ATV and they was great engines

Anyone know if the two gears for the oil pump(Gerotor Gears) have to be lined up a certain way with each other when reassembling? My governor was in 100 pieces all throughout the engine, i had to take out the oil pump to get all the pieces. I noticed each gear has a mark that looks like a timing mark but can't see why it would have to be lined up?? The part # that contains the gears is 2039302S if you want to see a picture. Thanks!!

I bet someone could sell a poop clean rebuild kit on most of these designs that have better parts. Yet the crank case casting is weak, and equally paired with the bad balancing design. Total engine swap is the answer likely. Too much to think about and figure out maybe, but they are so plentiful.

Ok. I missed you guys at the GIE expo. I'm a truckdriver that works on mowers on the side. I also have the Ariens booth in my trailer right now. Yes, I picked up Saturday after the show. I also saw while loading. They were loading the dumpster with cordless/battery operated push mowers that the Chinese area destroyed so know one could use. Instead of taking it back. Well, it looked like EZ-WORKS junk.

This is a unrelated question I have a 52” ex mark walk behind turf tracer with a Koehler engine efi it came to me with fuel leaking out the head so naturally I changed the fuel injector still leaks fuel out exhaust and plugs still get wet so I changed the high pressure fuel pump still same thing and I changed the computer out and changed out the other fuel pump still no change......do u have any advice or can u help

Cool so true, plastic crankshafts, plastic bushings and plastic nuts. Just think how easy that will be to fix. No torque-ing and if you strip a nut well don't worry they are cheap, and inexpensive. LOL!

My briggs 5hp comercial engine just working. I opened it up and found the crankshaft dipper bent and broken with the govenor gear striped. Know idea what happened. Do you guys have any input

When the governor gear fails what are the symptoms?

sewing1243 generally, your engine will run very, very fast. In case you don’t know, the governor is what balances out the throttle input while the engine is operating. That “pin” that he showed going up and down pushes the governor shaft. That shaft goes from inside the engine to the outside. On the outside it connects to the throttle assembly. When the engine slows down, the pin goes back down. This speed up/slow down action is occurring very fast. Anyway, that is probably more information than you wanted. There are a couple of other reasons why an engine would “run away”. But, the most important thing to do is to immediately shut the engine down and investigate.

Hey Taryl, just got done working on Troybilt self propelled mower with a Briggs and stratton 11p902-2693-b1 engine. Thought it might be a good how to video on how to change the timing gear. For whatever reason they originally had a cheap plastic gear. I'm personally still having issues with it. I've put the gear and the cam in correctly, adjusted the governor arm with the throttle open, and I believe I have all the springs on correctly. It's running again but its running slowly and vibrating like crazy. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Oh I also put on a brand new carb since the old one seized up completely

you did it all wrong. the proper fix according to the repair manual is 1st step. toss it in the junk pile.
