凱瑟琳獨立開朗樂觀 有這樣的同伴人生觀會大不同。

很久沒有這種感覺了，主要就是計畫一個短的，三天的，受約束的假期。 這種假期很不容易，但是一般人所經常所做的，排一個連假，或特休，在工作之外，抽空抽個假期出來參與活動，我覺得這是很難得的。 很小的時候我也會在腦海裡輾轉反側，計畫明天做什麼，或禮拜一到禮拜五，每天要看的電視節目。 數位網路化隨選影片的時代，這些都不再需要了，每天電視台播什麼節目，也都不需要知道，節目都變作隨選，永遠保留在網路上了。而進入青春期以後，床上的輾轉反側也變作性幻想一類的行為。 像影片一開頭那樣，尋找神秘小徑，舊海岸道路，這種事我也不大會作，照看起來那一定是條秘境道路了，的確比跨浪隧道漂亮又寧靜許多，真羨慕。 不過車輛漏氣是真的很危險，腳踏車是必然會有一定機率碰上，但攜帶打氣筒或氣瓶又很辛苦，備胎等等工具也佔用空間，但真的很難想像何時會用到，我上次兩年多前環島，機車有載打氣筒，因為我騎的的是打檔車，沒有高速胎，結果打氣筒用上了，是在回家前四十分鐘，夜間的公路上有人群騎單車，一樣車輪漏氣了，雖然我的打氣筒有小小幫上忙，但也可以說沒幫上忙，因為該輛公路車的後輪組裝裝不好，所以車主還是放棄夜騎自行車。 但真的騎單車是一個回憶，也是很多人消費的選擇，但最後很多東西是沒用上，以前買過2500新臺幣的碼錶，很快就壞了，車店裡的安全帽也要1700，只用過一兩次，車輛很多花巧的檔泥板、或牛角等等設備，可以說都有點是用來騙消費者，或衝動購物者會急著去買的，實際單車騎了一個月，不見得有人會能夠繼續騎，能保留下來的，只有昂貴的原廠金屬車架，其他很多附屬配件，不是不經時日就故障了，就是等幾個月單車玩膩了，就變得毫無價值。 很多古代物件都是這樣吧，我們生活中的事物也是，很多買了用了一陣子，最終都是磨損，或不愛了，或塵封。只能等待下一個愛它們的人。 台東海線我幾乎都是從南往北，從來沒有從花蓮往台東這樣行進過，這個影片對我來說是很特殊的經驗，現在全臺旱災，似乎唯一不缺水的只有新北市台北市，以及花東的樣子？那的確是很神秘的地方。但花東海線台11的確也非常荒涼。 很久沒看貴頻道的節目，是知道Wes先生辭去教職了，那有更換新的職業嗎？當然看這種外國人的網路影片，有CCRㄈㄈ尺或人之患在好為人師的嫌疑，可是的確有很多地方，臺灣人看不到的，很久以前我的確趁著工作假期，排過一次花蓮旅行，先到花蓮，再去租車，亂逛，結果逛到慕谷慕魚，那裡竟然有兩位外國人從高雄租了車，跑到花蓮，看了GoogleMap而以為能從台電道路騎回合歡山，結果其中一位的機車後輪都爆胎了，兩人露宿，真的很危險。但一般臺灣人就不會這樣走，也很幸運他們遇到精通英語的導遊，在派出所處也遇到情侶通英文，直接放棄旅行，改載這兩位異鄉客回家幫忙他們處理行程。這也是奇妙的體驗。 但對我來說啊......，是知道很多地方很好玩，我目前也有很多時間，但沒有錢，可能也疲憊了，就是一天拖過一天。 謝謝您的影片。

Ya brother lovely trip. Rain, rain and more rain. Sounds like my experience too lol but as you said it’s always worth it in the end. Anytime you want to hit the road I’m in. Kaohsiung to Kenting is always fun. I’m jealous of that abandoned road you guys found. So quiet and picturesque.

體力很好哩 三天花蓮騎到 台東

There are two ways that lead from Hualien to Taidong. One is through Eastern Rift Valley that goes between Central mountains range and coastal mountains range. The dwellers there are basically Hakka people except that the ordinary Taiwanese clump together in the larger towns. The other is via coast highway along which most of the residents are indigenous people and driving or riding on this way can be dangerous, especially during the rainy days.

What a great trip with smiling faces!

I did a cycling trip a couple of winters back (Kaohsiung to Kenting, then up the east coast to Taipei). Great experience - would love to do it again someday.

good job, while in Taiwan I had two bicycles, the first, a "beater" in bike terms with a somewhat out of true back wheel, and the second a KHS I bought new on South Tunghwa road I think in Taipei. Nice country to cycle in for the cities/ although I never did venture as far as you did on this trip. **It looks like you were using ordinary shoes and no toe clips or no clip in system, toe clips or the equivalent make the pedaling more efficient (even if you are a pedal masher like me),, but for me I do find, I can't use panniers with toe clips because my feet (heels) will hit the panniers/ unless I upgrade to a long tail cargo bike in the future)

Great to see you riding a bike, Wes. You got that thing with the zen just right. The best moments on a bike are when you can fully disconnect the mind from the body that keeps functions at a steady pace. Can bring up entirely new ideas and perspectives. Sorry to see you two had such nasty weather. When I rode from Hualien to Taitung (not all the way by the coast, but switching to the East Rift Valley halfways to spend the night in Ruisui) a couple of years ago in late October, the weather was great - almost too hot, speaking of drinking enough and constantly fearing to either dehydrate or suffer a heat stroke. Challenges are good, and so is leaving your comfort zone. And for the next long ride, opt for a firmer seat combined with some padded undies. BTW: you could have returned those bikes at Taitung TRA station as well, they also have a Giant store there.

This is a special trip that you will remember the rest of your life.

太棒了，我自己還沒有勇氣做😜

We tried that 7 or 8 years ago during Easter holidays (when we were living in Hong Kong). We cycled along the mountain route instead of the sea since we were not sporty. There were a lot of small villages or towns along the road that make it much easier to get supply or repair. The view may not be as nice as the coast route in spring, but if you try it in autumn, the fields of gold (rice ready for harvest) will win you over! Besides, the temples and police stations also provided clean toilets, some even equipped with showers :D It is easier to find cheap accommodation too as the B&B with breathless Sun rise/set from the sea are much more expensive. I agree It's super tiring, exhausting but the memories worth it XD
