East German Helmet Helmet Cover & Net - Quick Guide

We recently got in a bunch of these East German Strichtarn little gems and since they don't come up often these days, we thought we'd have a brief run down of some of the quirks that these useful little guys have as well as how to set one up with the various nets.

Nice video. Perhaps a post combining your stock of suspenders with regular and cold weather trousers would be worthwhile? I hope you may at some point have the fur collars for the winter jackets for sale. Thanks a lot.

yeh we've had the winter sets a couple times now but both times sadly without the fur collars being thrown in - hopefully next time! Might have a video we filmed last week showing the pants and jacket off in terms of features to go up soon

The drawer string net was worn with the earlier riveted helmets and are generally not easy to find

Nice to run in to you here Rene. I got a couple of pairs of unissued suspenders and some Czech gear from them a week ago. My first purchase in a long time. A lot of what I have bought from Army and Outdoors was informed by your posts and your help to me on WRF. Regards to Wifey.

thats interesting - we got very few of the drawer string ones fundly enough, but a good amount of clips. Must say, I do like the drawer string ones a lot more after fiddling with both!

@@reneblacky did quite a lot of moons ago, but life (and storage) put a dampner on that particular collection! Very tempting right at this moment however!

Ordered a helmet cover and was really disappointed. I'm not sure if it was made too small at the factory or what the deal was, but it absolutely would not fit my M56 no matter how hard I tried. I followed the video to the T, but this cover is just simply too small. No amount of stretching was able to get it to come close to fitting. Fast shipping and in good shape otherwise. I do love the East German Zeltbahn I received though, no complaints there.

First off sorry to hear that! (please give our CS a yell). I don't believe the covers come in sizes (no markings present) but I suppose as you say its possible they were made a bit small or shrunk with moisture in storage for decades. It would have to be some pretty major shrinkage, but even if the elastic part cant quite fit over the helmet brim, it should still be possible to tuck it in some what and a helmet net will help secure it all. Glad to hear you were pleased with Zeltbahn though!

@@armyand_OutdoorsCool, Im travelling to Auckland soon. I saw that the store there closed, is there a way for trade-ins without going to Christchurch?

@@marcelomoura3999 yep were gone all online/centralized from Christchurch now. Not really unless it was big bulk - we only generally do walk ins.
