A very lovely visit to the East Lancs Railway for an all steam timetable. Two giants of steam, namely ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’ and ‘Britannia’, ran rakes up and down the line from Haywood, via Bury, to Rawtenstall.
After a look at the Bury Transport Museum (see separate folder), I jumped on the train at Bury, and headed by Britannia, went up the line calling all stations to Rawtenstall. Afterwards I done the same journey back.
Always nice to see an A4 in steam as opposed to locked up in a museum. Logistics, money, and having to scrap a lot of parts, prevent all of them being able to run, but I’ll take 1.
