Mentally he was still there but the stroke robbed of him speech. Same thing happened to my Grandma. She understood every word we said to her and the only way she could communicate was nodding her head.
My dad had a stroke on exactly the same day as the actor when I was 17. He is just as badly disabled by it but alot younger. This moment in eastenders was nearly impossible to watch because I know I'm still waiting for this day. When tv touches your life its very poignant.
😢😭 whenever Eastenders plays that theme tune whether it sad ending or a happy ending, it makes me cry without fail. Even just hearing the tune in my head makes me emotional 😭 (I’m always emotional I really hate it, I’m even emotional at Christmas or when I see/go to a Wedding, and even seeing an advert for animal charities, children charities or even Disneyland or Disney World makes me cry)
"Life imitates Art far more than Art imitates Life", Oscar Wilde once quoted. John Bardon had the life experience of being paralysed and was able to express of his emotions for real. That makes this scene even harder to watch.
Well 2007 was when John Bardon had his initial stroke. But yeah, I guess it feels like he'd been gone since like 2003 cuz Jim was his funny old self up until he had his stroke. After that, he just wasn't the same anymore.
I suppose that he could no longer get the comedy, after he suffered the stroke. The scene, when he accidentally sucks the baggie up the vacuum cleaner is now classic and has been included on the 30th edition DVD of EastEnders.
I know he had several strokes in real life but after the first stroke was he acting in 2009-2011 or did his stroke really make him this way ? I meant the first stroke, not the second and third
Probably cuz Jim wasn't an easy father. Max certainly didn't bother going after Jim gave him a good belting as a child and thought it was him who locked him in a coffin but later found out it was actually Derek. And Jim didn't exactly give Carol his blessings when she married Alan as he was more of a racist back then. As for Jack, I'm not entirely sure as he doesn't appear in these scenes despite appearing in this episode as his name's in the credits.
