@@rahulshah3517 maybe it's the balance? Phil still suffers via various things, Steve lived a short and successful life, but arrogance beat him in the end. Being a gangster goes one of 2 ways. A short lifespan with many conquests, or a long painful life
@@therealtazmahal To be fair' Phil is very lucky to be alive today. People have tried to kill him multiple times but Steve just got unlucky with his death. Didn't evening die a typical gangster's death in the end but rather trying to get one over on Phil, sad really because he definitely wasn't as tough as Phil mentally nor did he even take as many risks but he was a gangster and like you said, he was rich and successful right up until his demise. Phil on the other hand has had so many setbacks and whenever success looks like it's coming his way, something, someone or even himself always has to come along and ruin it.
I like how Eastenders tries to makes you think that being a businessman is by being hard beating up punters in around your own business in front of the locals. Phil really has got his own empire down to a T.
soap news yeah defo mate! One of the most biggest mistakes BBC ever did killing him off! With Mel and his son Hunter in it atm, they could have had soo much in store for him!
Steve Owen was a great character. When winding up Phil in the Vic. they should have played some Spandau Ballet and have Steve say, 'At least you play decent music here!'
@@fionahamilton7231 nothing but Steve played reggie in the Kray twins film ( hence him saying does he realise he’s feuding with reggie kray ) and if you generally didn’t no what he meant and have never seen the film with Steve in and ya like that kind thing I suggest watching it it’s a classic and a real good movie.
The fight that started at 01:53 was a proper fight that both people was envolved rather than just Phil punching someone and that's it, shame Phil and Dennis didn't go head on or Phil and Jack Branning or a lot of others, I'm glad Steve did fight back and not let him just punch and that's the end of it, it's always good when someone stands up to Phil Mitchell,
EE Scenes 85 And steve owen, derek branning was ok but he should have stayed don't know why those twats got rid of him, Aidan was awful don't know how mick and vincent were scared of him they could have easily battered him, willmott brown and stuart are way better villains than Aidan.
I think we underestimate Steve as a hard man as he put up quite a fight from Phil. I never noticed before but you actually see Steve punch Phil and before he punched him you see a mark on Phill’s face which means Steve gave him a punch off screen and who knows how many more. Phil just edges this one though and I’m not disputing that but Phil did have to put up quite a fight in that scrap you must admit. Any other time they came to blows physically was because Steve let him because of the mind games and all. Absolutely loved their feud.
I liked this era because sometimes Phil would win, and sometimes he would lose. When Steve McFadden returned from his break in 2005, the writers ensured that Phil kept winning all of his feuds which soon became annoying and boring.
Hmmm I think because it’s because some fans didn’t like it when he loses especially Steve McFadden himself. He complained to the writers about his feud with derek branning apparently and didn’t like the script. It’s true what’s your saying it is quite boring

veritas time so explain why in 2018 on average 6.8 million viewers for coronation street, 5.9 for emmerdale and only 5 million for eastenders! How does that make Eastenders “top soap” .... dearie! I still watch it with my wife, only because there isn’t much else on and I absolutely hate reality tv but let’s not fool ourselves that it’s a shadow of its former self and now has less regular viewers than Emmerdale.
@@veritastime9522 The show now is poorly written dross. They've ruined most the legendary characters & a lot of the storylines make no sense. The glory days are long gone. To still call this show great would be a person lacking good taste not the other way around. Sorry.
Sir Guest eastenders certainly isn't as good as the 1990s and early 2000s. But time has changed and the gangster platform that were common with Steve Owen, Dan Sullivan and The Mitchell Brothers are of a bygone era. It wouldn't work in today's world as time has changed.
Loved Martin in EastEnders. I remember reading that when he was offered the part and considering it, his agent said ' Mart you've got to take the part - this guy is you!'
Oh my gosh did Steve make a monumental mistake by having a go at and bullying Mel in front of Phil. Phil hated Steve enough, without him tearing into the woman he thought the world of, and Phil wasn't going to stand by and let him intimidated her. Steve lost face here by being physically beaten up by Phil, but also let Mel see without any doubt who was the tougher and stronger man, and that this real alpha man was protecting her honour. It, was down hill for Steve after this episode .
Phil hurt Steve more than any other of his enemies. He got half of Steve's businesses, hijacked a business deal (with Beppe), beat him up in front of his wife twice and to top things, slept with his wife. Damn, ouch!
John Yorke was one of the best writers. He constantly came up with good storylines and the right actors played the right characters. Now it is very poor- such a shame
Haha yep same remember being hyped about it whenever he answered it in enders. I was on the verge of getting my second phone at the time. He was such a slick character.

I would have loved for Martin Kemp to have talked to Ronn Moss who have one thing in common. They went from being Pop Stars to Soap Stars. Steve in Spandau Ballet with "True" which was one of many songs paying homage to Marvin Gaye who died 40 years ago this year, and Ronn being in Player with Baby Come Back. Later True was sampled by PM Dawn with Set Adrift On Memory Bliss.
Love him or hate him, steve owens exit was one of the best exits eastenders ever had, when i watched it when it aired, i remember saying to myself, why didn't he just break the passenger window and climb out of the car, he died tragically, his son was shot dead on the square and his ex-wife mel was run over by a big truck

Yeah you dont get it he was winding up Phil the second time massively thats why he didnt fight back. The first time he got a few shots into Phil, the second time he was winding him up so that he could mess up Phils record and chances of getting his kids back.
I always thought it was a real shame Dirty Den didn’t come up against Steve Owen. The mind games would of been really interesting. The Phil Mitchell and Steve Owen rivalry was great though.
It would have been interesting to see Dirty Den and Dennis Rickman meeting Steve Owen or Johnny Allen meeting Steve Owen or even den and johnny allen meeting dan sullivan
Ryan Andrews There was more to this feud than just punch ups though. Steve couldn’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag but he could sure get his own back in more damaging ways, like sleeping with Sharon and rubbing Phil’s face in it constantly, even mockingly offering him a part in a business deal. He even got really scary and actually kidnapped Phil’s daughter. Taking a few punches and beatings is nothing compared to that
