EastEnders: Phil Mitchell vs Teddy And Harry Mitchell (3rd July 2024: Episode 1) 

I’ve got nothing against Steve, he’s a brilliant actor and he still plays Phil really well even at the age of 64. But Phil himself is practically finished and there’s no use for him in the show anymore.

@@H.K.5 Also the original Phil, the real Phil died many years ago. In 1999. As we know, in the 1990s he was a much nicer man but they changed him to compensate for Grant leaving.

@@Uksoapfan true that he was Different in the early 2000s but I'd argue he was still a good character just in a Different way as he was entertaining as a Douchbag villain who had a bit of heart on occasion such as when he stuck up for Jamie on multiple occasions. I'd say he only became a downright bad and stale character around 2005 when he had his whole storyline with Johnny and from then on the criminal side of his character has gotten worse and worse over the years.

@@spencerreid2086 In 2000 alone, Phil's transformation was gradual. It started in late 1999/very early 2000 and by the summer of 2000 his personality change was pretty much complete with him becoming the bad boy of the square, but his shooting in 2001 did kind of mellow him to a degree, he was still a douche, but seemed to have some morals but I agree, 2005/2006 is when he became stale. Even in 2000 Phil was not a villain, just a local bad boy crook, but now he is written as a total villain who "runs Walford underworld".

Phil and Grant were brothers though plus Harry is far more obedient around Teddy than Grant was around Phil (Grant didn’t even listen to Phil 90% of the time despite Phil being his elder).

Terry's the only one that's quite interesting & feels like an original character. That Harry is the sort of character we've seen a good few times. The youngest one will just be around, can't see him being a very important character.

@@1977Suspiria I completely agree mate Harry is sort of chav character you see who acts all big but really isn’t and I love Teddy he’s been a great addition and I love Stevie aswell he’s been great also I’ve actually enjoyed them two than Phil of recent.

​@JDillon03MUFC I was already worried when I looked up the Harry actor when the characters got announced to find he was singing in a reality show Let It Shine previously & I had to eye-roll at the fact he'd edited his pronouns into his IMDb profile. Hardly screamed 'I'm gonna play a great hardman'. 😂😂

@@1977Suspiria aye true mate them things you mentioned don’t scream hardman it screams like a Felix type character rather than a hardman but who knows he could turn out to be a hardman and June the 11th I read in the spoilers it says Phil is furious when he’s wronged I wonder what’s that’s about and wether he’ll throw a punch or not most likely not .

@@JDillon03MUFC To be fair, Richard Blackwood at 50 is far more physically imposing than this guy and he’s a better actor.

If the cap fits in regards to that though. Phil is entertaining but is well over the hill and past it.

@@spencerreid2086 Not sure why some get so rattled and start new threads which are having jibes at people who point out a few home truths about characters. Such as "The Phil hate" and "Why are people mocking Phil's health, and calling him limpy" etc.
