Joe. The signing of the one sided treaty caused the split which caused the civil war which caused partition were all a disaster for Ireland. It would have been better that war of independence hadn't taken place because Southern Ireland went into an economic tailspin that lasted for six decades following the signing of the 22 treaty. Even Collins realised this fact later that year but by then the harm was done
Patravich O'brienski Yeah civil war was bad but doesn't explain why this army who killed Cathal Brugha and who he died fighting against have a barracks named after him. He was in the IRA and fought for them only.
@@shredder9536 they were all IRA up until the split because of the Treaty. Personally i find cathal Brugha to be one of Irelands Greatest 🇮🇪 is it not fitting having an Irish Army barracks named after him?...
Some of that kit is really old , doubt the Irish army could put up much of a fight with that rag tag bag of antiquated stuff. One F22 could take the lot out in about 10 mins .
@@micealmacadaim6550 i know that but they are only a defence force not a super power with a population of only 4.5 million mist of there work is with the U.N they are deployed at present in Lebanon, Syria,Golan Heights, Mali and recently have done missions in Chad, Liberia,Eritrea amongst many more they are a well trained well disciplined defence force and have good modern equipment for the roles they undertake
All the F22s in the world can't put down a few Afghan tribesmen with AKs & RPGs & the Serbs managed to shoot down a stealth fighter with antiquated AA systems. So I wouldn't get too caught up in the whole "high-tech stuff wins wars" if I were you. Winning wars is about murdering people on the ground, up close & personal. The side that's prepared to suffer the most & commit atrocities usually wins. Dropping a few bombs from a shinny jet... meh, doesn't achieve much. Never has.
@@ado75 well might not take out every single one but a few F22’s half a dozen A10’s and maybe a dozen attack helos could degrade pretty much any third world military until they were basically useless in terms of being able to control the vast majority of a country , then your into guerrilla warfare but most don’t bother , once you control the infrastructure and the major power generation systems you’ve won in all but name .
