Today we continue our Easter themed week with a 5 layer, cold process soap.
We have chosen an Easter theme for this soap and have used 5 different pastel shades of mica to create the layers in our soap. We are using soap frosting to pipe the top of today's soap and we are also using some soap dough Easter eggs which we have created and brushed with matching shades of mica.
We will take you through the process of creating this soap, showing you how to create layers in cold process soap and what technique to use to ensure the layers do not break through each other.
Below is the recipe we have used today. The given quantities will be enough to fill a 5lb loaf mold:
400g Water
218g Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)
680g Olive Oil
368g Coconut Oil
198g Sweet Almond Oil
150g Shea Butter
114g Castor Oil
76g Cocoa Butter
50g "Mistletoe Kisses" fragrance oil (Candleshack)
1g pale pink mica
1g purple mica
1g pale blue mica
1g yellow mica
1g pale green mica
For the Piped Frosting
200g Water
109g Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)
340g Olive Oil
184g Coconut Oil
99g Sweet Almond Oil
75g Shea Butter
57g Castor Oil
38g Cocoa Butter
For the soap dough eggs
Small quantity of pre-made soap dough (we use our standard recipe to create our soap dough) and small amounts of matching mica colours to dust each egg with.
