We are Anne and Wayne and we are the owners of The Sussex Handmade Soap Company. We are a small, British company who concentrate on making handmade, cold process soap bars, body butters, bath bombs and sugar scrubs. We use many natural ingredients and our focus is on making products that are palm oil free, paraben & sulfate free and kind to your skin. Through this channel we share our designs and recipes and we also go behind the scenes to show you what it is really like to run a small, handmade bath and body business within the UK.
In our videos, you can see us experimenting with natural colourants and clays, working out new design techniques and formulating new products. We also share some hints and tips designed to help those of you who are interested in running a small bath/body business - everything from our craft fair set up to spreadsheets showing how to calculate your cost of production!
Im happy these videos exist, because I am not good at maths at all because of a math disability/discalculia. Though excel confuses me, so for some reason I need to physically write it down. I think it's because i get confused reading a computer screen.
This is so helpful since im planning to try and make and then sell soap here. Im just starting out but im also from the US so this is so interesting to learn. (I plan to immigrate forever)
This video series has been immensely helpful for me as a new soaper! I want those blue loaf molds so badly and can’t seem to find them (I love the color)
This video has inspired me to finally get the supplies and try making this! Thank you for the excellent tutorial and recipe. Question, if I don’t want to use the sweet almond oil can I just add the amount for another oil?
Hello there! A scent I like is 50% spearmint & 50% rose. Thank you for this video. I'll see how the lemon grass works. Have you tried lemon grass lavender?
I just made some using this recipe, I can't tell you how long I been scratching my head at how I could make bath bombs naturally as possible, thank you so much Ann. I am so excited to see the results, one batch I put french pink clay and purple brazilian clay using a natural fragrance oil that smells like raspberry and sweet pea and the other batch I left uncolored and scented with a natural milky coconut fragrance :)
A bit late to the party but i'm currently trying to wrap my head around IFRA and percentages, especially when it comes to diffusers. I know that it's under cat 10A for diffusers but if i go and check the IFRA from one supplier, it'll be something like 6.5% fragrance oil required , fair enough, but i checked an IFRA from another supplier and the fragrance (a very subtle smelling Baby Powder) is 0.56%! However, the same supplier has a seperate document for diffusers and it says 25%, but i'm under the impression the maximum is 25% and i could go 10% for example. I don't want to make diffusers, sell them and find out they're super weak or make diffusers with way too much fragrance oil and cause issues😖
THANKs... now you made made day 😊 ...just ordered some dry Ingrients ... you are showing that all so well ... now I feel much more ready to make my natural colors, first time ! ❤
I love your videos and your products look great! Nothing artificial about you or your products:) You do work hard, I must say. I wish you much success.
Is there a certain ratio to use with infused oils per 1 lb batch . Or like a safe spot . I’m new to soap making. I’ve seen a lot of makers use infused oils for soap but no one ever explains why or if you can replace the full amount of olive oil . Does it depend on herbs. Thanks again. Video was very informative
Thank you for this very detailed and informative video , and for taking the time to show us how it is made. I’m sorry that people are so rude on here it’s uncalled for !!!!!! , but some of us really appreciate you guys and your knowledge that you share with us ❤ thank you Can you do a 50 or 60% shea butter soap all natural not additives .
