Today we are showing you how to make a vegan version of our rich, creamy, emulsified hair conditioner, which we featured on our channel a few weeks ago. This conditioner focuses on using BTMS 25, a cationic emulsifier which also adds a wonderful conditioning and thickening element to our product.
This conditioner is more suited to thick, dry hair but will work on other hair types too. We have scented it with Orange, Cedarwood & Lavender essential oils and are using Olive Oil as our conditioning oil in this recipe today. We have infused Alkanet root into our Olive Oil to try and give a natural pink colour to our conditioner today, but this is completely optional and is for aesthetics only!
This recipe is an oil in water (O/W) emulsification and we have packed it full of ingredients that are brilliant in hair care products. These ingredients are relatively easy to find online within the UK and will really enhance the final conditioner.
This video will take you through the various steps needed to create this hair conditioner. There are three main phases to today's recipe. The water phase, oil phase and cool down phase and we show you what ingredients go into each phase.
If you wish to recreate our hair conditioner at home, then here is the recipe:
Water Phase
232g Distilled Water
Oil Phase
24g Olive Oil
24g BTMS 25
Cool Down Phase
11g Vegetable Derived Glycerin
3g D Panthenol
3g Preservative 12
1g Lavender Essential Oil
1g Sweet Orange Essential Oil
1g Cedarwood Atlas Essential Oil

Excellent thank you. I bought a preservative for my conditioner but for my detangler, I just put it in small spray bottles and froze them and take them out as I run out and it works just fine

ive tried swapping out the silk peptides with hydrolysed proteins (wheat and rice) and that works well but i'll definitely give this a try. Thank you for sharing! (PS am LOVING the Velvet Peony and Oud scrub!)

Hi, great colour. I love your videos. Have you managed to find palm free BTMS 25?

Thank you for all your videos!!! Question. If I want to make this just for me, do I need to put a preservative it in? Would there be any natural substitutes around the house, like citric acid or apple cider vinegar?

Anything that contains water or may come in contact with water needs a preservative. If not, bacteria can grow in your conditioner and ruin what you have left in your jar.
