Interesting. I have this on my 2017 AT as well but the wire to the tail light actually connects to the red/white/blue connectors on the other side of passenger seat area (it connects to the white one, which is linked to license plate light). I had to email the guy as at first I thought he'd sent me the wrong part (I got the cables for the 1100 model). I was following instructions that said to connect it to where you did but there was no way it was connecting there. So the kit for 1100 model also works on 1000 model. To quote him.... "That kit works on the CRF1000 also. Some customer use an alarm or want to use the accessory port for other devices. So the kit you have connects to the license plate light, freeing the accessorty port for other use. If you look at the rear right of your bike ( seat removed ) there is a clear plastic cover with 3 connects. The white connector is the license plate light conection. So you connect there"
