So many people are afraid of electric wiring , you should do an in depth wiring shows . Film everything and break it into half hour shows , parts 1 through what ever . A lot of people would watch this .

I made one of these for my datsun using your advice last time and was great. The biggest issue I ran into was trying to make the board too small and compact which really made it difficult to get everything connected up

How's it going, Kyle? This thing is well thought out and very clean with all the wiring looms, tape, and labels.👌 I really like the idea of incorporating a remote charging terminal into the system. That's a great example of planning ahead!👏 Cheers, buddy.

Yo MrKVoss, long time Sir... This video brings back memories of your old video you made a couple of years ago. Can't believe time passing so quick. Found you on that video that time. Great video's man. I don't comment anymore, but believe me, I watch each and every video you post. (Bring back your motivational bits Sir). Anyways, like always, peace out Sir. ZA

I personally would've used those old school relays. MSD for example makes a real nice relay block. It's much cleaner install, solid state type rated around 25 amps and triggered negative or positive volts.
@LTVoyager
@LTVoyager Год назад
For $200 they should also make my coffee! And solid state relays have a voltage drop that can be troublesome in some applications.

Hey Voss, have you heard of silicone self fusing tape? I like it because there is no sticky residue, if you ever need to get back into your loom. I used it over corrugated plastic tubing for my wire tuck for the main bundle and it holds up great to the heat. I used that ‘Chinese handcuff’ material for all wiring coming out of the bundle to everywhere else, looks so choice and it worth the time it takes to inch on

I wire my projects with very similar components, but I wire all of my relays with ground sense. I use 4 pin relays, #30 B+, #87 load, and #85 & #86 are the relay coil. I jumper #85 to #30, and run a 16 gauge wire from #86 to the switch that controls the device. I ground the other terminal on the switch to the ground junction block. #30 goes to 12V B+ and #87 to the load. NOTE: There is no current in the control wires. Using this method eliminates any current running back and forth between the control panel and the relay panel except in the main fused 12 V B+ source. If the control wire gets pinched and shorts out, it just grounds the relay and the device turns on. No burned wires and a much smaller control wire. Also there are no 12 volt wires running around under the dash or control panel and no need for a fuse on the control wire because it has no voltage.

I would also recommend buying the relays with the plug in portion. It makes life easier (prewired with terminals) and replacement easier.

Great info I am currently putting together a rail buggy with a 2.4 ecotec. Do you have any good solutions for a keyed Ignition switch that’s better than the $30 unviversal ones and maybe a bit more secure

Just make sure you size wire correctly. I can tell what sizes you are using, but I know fans pull some amps and I would be the water pump does too.

Skip all the janky Chinese garbage fuse boxes, bus bars, and Amazon speaker wire. Source a proper PDM from Eaton Bussman/Littlefuse and quality TXL wire from ProWire USA.
@chip-load
@chip-load 2 года назад
Wow! not so easy to do. Spent 6 hrs searching for good stuff and still can't find a quality, US made, combo fuse terminal in a range I need. ProWire has good wire but very limited combinations. No cables suitable for automotive high amp use and not much in the way of accessories. Bussman/Little fuse appears to be high quality commercial stuff and looks like many more hours of searching for retail source. But thanks for the point-out, I am tired of the import crap too! If you know of a quality 8/16 station (both positive and ground), plug in fuse, screw on terminal block, please post.
