HI Michael - i bought the AC422CE on the strength of your review and i love the easy action. I have my eye on this model - just wanted to know how you would compare the action; sounds of the AC 222 are great
@The_Guitarshop
@The_Guitarshop 2 года назад
Hi Michael, great to hear the review helped you in your choice! Action however is something that is completely up to how it's setup and how the store you bought it from treats it before it ships. And this can always be adjusted to your liking ;) No one guitar is the same when it leaves the factory and that also counts for action!

Nice playing. Nice sounds!! I own this guitar but with plain Sitka top. My issue was the neck kept lifting and I had to keep taking the saddle down to keep a playable action. So newish guitar but with not much room to go down on the saddle. I think the thin slim taper neck is the culprit. Too skinny!! What is the neck carve on this one you are playing??
@The_Guitarshop
@The_Guitarshop 3 года назад
Thanks man! 🙏 Did you try to adjust the neck before sanding the saddle down? It’s kind a last resort, once you are to far you need a new one. The neck carve on this is a Traditional even C shape with a 12” radius
@raphlasne
@raphlasne 2 года назад
If you can't make a good truss rood adjustment by your own, try to get the help of a luthier before sanding the bridge nut. Depending on different weather conditions, guitars can shift a lot after shipping.

Hi, thanks for the review, it was one of the reasons I bought the guitar. Did yours had belly buldge while new as well? Aligning ruler with the top at the center of the round part (bottom, behind the pins) of the bridge it hovers 7mm on the base side and 5mm on the treble side from the edges of the lower bout.

Verrassend! Mooi helder, beetje wat ik nu mis bij mijn Eastman E10D. Herken je dit?
@The_Guitarshop
@The_Guitarshop 3 года назад
He Marco! Cheers!
@MarcoStarink
@MarcoStarink 3 года назад

Hey Michael. I've played an Eastman e10 om and loved it. I've owned a Taylor 214 and had it for a couple years. I'm looking at a ac222 cla or a e1 om cla. I like both. My style fits both. Which do you think sounds better and what is better about each one. I'm a Huge fan. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
@raphlasne

I've tried this guitar yesterday, the sound is incredible. The sound is quite "lifting" the player on the stratosphere. Eastman rules. Sweet playing and very good miking. What mike do you use? Also you didn't mention that ovangkol sound quite close to redwood. It matters. Compared with model 122 from the same manufacturer, which has mahogany (sapele) back and sides, the difference is very sensible. More "open" and powerful sound. The 100$ difference is worth the price, I guess.

Hi! Quick question: how’s the action on this guitar?
@Bidenmadeamess
@Bidenmadeamess Год назад
The problem with Chinese guitars is the glue... it doesn't hold up and if you ever need a neck reset you are at a big loss. Some luitherers wont touch them.
@raphlasne
@raphlasne Год назад
@@Bidenmadeamess You just can't make such a generalizing statement. The best Chinese luthiers are very skilled and have no problem in making make a perfectly glued instrument. Eastman guitars are made by hand in Beijing. This is not low cost gear.
@Bidenmadeamess
@Bidenmadeamess Год назад
@@raphlasne , and are you going to take it back to Beijing to one of those highly skilled Chinese luitherers when the low quality glue breaks down and American luitherers won't mess with it or if they do it cost more than the value of the instrument. Gibson (under Norlin ownership)had the same issue in the early 70's and it did major damage to their reputation. If I had a dollar for every bad Gibson loose neck block from bad glue that I have seen I would be well off Anyone that owns one or has owned one knows what I'm talking about. The Eastmans and Blueridge instruments have a nice sound and if a person wants one , that's their choice. I just feel that they need to know the rest of the story before they buy and regret it. I know a lot of people that want an asian guitar that "sounds just like a Martin" or one of the American brands and some get close but the quality ain't there.... trust me!

Excellent playing. I want to learn all those chords. I'm a big fan of Eastman. Until last week, I owned four of them. I sold an E20D because my E10D mahogany dreadnought sounds so much cleaner and louder. I'm also selling an E8OM because it sounds so much like my E40OM. You might wonder why I'm getting rid Eastman guitars if I love them so much? It is so I can make space for, plus finance the purchase of, an Eastman AC622CE. Now, after hearing how fantastic that AC222CE sounds, I'm wondering if it is really necessary to spend the extra thousand dollars for a maple guitar with gorgeous maple leaf inlays. Ovangkol sounds fantastic.

Would you suggest this guitar for both fingerstyle and strumming? Maybe too much mids for strumming...

Played. Past tense of play. Plaid is a pattern made popular by people in Scotland. Piece of music. Not peace. Peace is better than war. Piece of pie. Great playing. I love Eastmans. They make Martins sound dull in comparison but even their bass strings have a high freq that is distinctive. Sort of jangly. And a piezo pickup can accentuate this to unpleasant levels. LR Baggs Anthem or other blendable pickups are the only pickups for an Eastman in my opinion. FANTASTIC value, but to sound really professional one needs to understand their short comings

For anyone looking at this guitar - a similar but superior model in my view is the Martin 0MC-16E. This is an all-solid Ovangkol model of the same shape as the Eastman. It is simply GORGEOUS in tone and looks. If you hate brash, bright guitars and love warm, rounded and mellow, this is a dream. It is sweet sounding - still very articulate in the trebles, but with a great percussive midrange and impressive bass response that does not dominate. It is extremely well-balanced and a stella, punchy strummer. I've owned many higher-end guitars, including a Martin CEO-7 and a Gibson J-185, and this over-looked Ovangkol outshines them all. (Paired with Thomastik Infeld Plectrum strings, it is heavenly).

These are disposable guitars! Trying to save a dollar and getting junk. Sure they have a good tone but what good is that if the action is .750 thousands at the 5th fret after the glue breaks loose at the neck joint? A neck reset starts at $550.00

To all the doubters and snobs here, go actually play an Eastman then you can comment. I have had Martin’s, I have had Taylor’s and I have had guilds. All in the over 1k mark and I sold them all and have mainly Yamaha and Eastman stuff nowadays. Once you have your guitar headstock ego death you will be much happier… I used to turn my nose at anything not made in USA or Japan but seriously try these Eastman’s. They may be made in china but they are genuinely handmade and you can tell.
