Today we're looking at the Eastwood Hi-Flyer Phase 4, Eastwood's recreation of Univox's last 'phase' from '77. The original Hi-Flier Phase Four is a no nonsense guitar known for its rebellious side and inspiration to guitarists like Kurt Cobain. Thanks to Eastwood, every detail of the Phase 4 has been recreated right down to the carved body, angled high output humbuckers and wrap-around bridge. Plus, the Eastwood Hi-Flyer Phase 4 uses the same neck profile and 24 ¾" scale which invites anyone to take a ride.

He also used a LOT of times live, even in SNL in 1993, he uses his sunburst Hi Flier Custom, it was also the first of his guitars to have a Seymour Duncan JB!

No. I'm pretty sure he played a Mosrite Gospel, apart from the white Univox he would sometimes use, and yes like you say, he did play this model of univox on HSB video. He also sometimes played a Hagstrom with a fender mustang neck from early 1989 to mid 1990.

Andy has some serious finger technique...ProGuitarShop is very lucky to have him-his playing on these demos have prolly sold boatloads of guitars from dudes dazzled by the tones he gets, which is due a great deal to his playing & technique, no matter the axe... he's awesome bro!

@HBSuccess The Phase 4 was only available with this bridge. Univox's Phase 1 through 3 models had the super wonderful whammy. I kind of wish they'd released the Phase 3 instead of 4 because of that.

The original Eastwood Hi-flyers/Mosrite Ventures (same thing) were available with a pretty cheesy whammy system - kind of like a Fender Jag whammy. Is this one hard-tail only?

Nope, Hi Flyers, he developed an interest for Fender during the Nevermind era, but was still using the Univox guitars just as often especially for Bleach and Incesticide tracks. They were cheap to smash and he bought large numbers of them over a period of 5 years.

I hope it is as light as the original high flyer because that was the cool thing about the univox high flyer is that there super thin and super light. Lightest guitar I've ever played. I have a phase 3 check my vids!!! also have the new kurt jag!!! I want this now

i have always wondered why they never made guitars with the bottom horn longer than the top, for people that sit down frequently when playing... it also sounds awsome, but the head stock is disapointing to the highest degree. to each his own i guess

@00hazel001 Okay. Well blame Univox for making the original like that 40 years ago, then. It all comes down to the sound that comes out of it. I like the sound of the neck pickup. Maybe you think there's a problem here, but to my EARS, there isn't.
