super BTS tuto ! I generally locate the strip box on side and I think it is a good idea to center it behind backdrop if no spilling into camera !

is 1x3 enough or do we need a 1x4 ? stripbox seems tedious to assemble on site while rapidbox 1x4 seems easy but quite expensive at 370 euros while godox one is 30 euros ! and what about making rim light with rogue flashbender XL pro V3+grid on a cheap godox V1 ?

1x3 works out great for me. The price is worth it if you want quality. I've owned my Westcott modifiers for over 4 years and they still work.

I use a mirrorless camera so I have no issues.

@@EliInfante I own the Canon R6 and when the screen becomes dark due to the shutter speed, it can no longer focus on the subject's eyes.

Eli, thanks for this great video. The only problem I have following your method is that when I am killing the ambient light, the autofocus on my Nikon Z6 hunts. Do you turn on the modeling light on your flashes to assist your camera's AF system?

few questions #1. I have a newer vision 4 strobe I don't have the 7 foot umbrella? will a softbox do or get a umbrella? #2.the strip box can be powers buy a flashpoint strobe???? your helping me out a lot with the strobe output power settings I plan to purchas the strip box ]& to adjust settings

You can use a softbox or umbrella. If you mainly do studio an umbrella works out great. As for the stripbox it will work with any light that support bowens mount.

Good content as always. However I wish to see videos with not too expensive gear like budget softbox from amazon, not these high end lights. How you can use them for your work. Not all of us have access to professional lightings.

You can! I do these light setups with my students all the time using cheap speedlites and softboxes. Would you mind going out and giving it a try? You be surprised what you can create with cheap gear 😁

@@evocati6523 no it's not the same. Cheap softboxes have only 1 lightbulb and the light spectrum is different as well and the intensity cannot be adjusted etc.

Mirrorless cameras have a setting where it will add light into the viewfinder to focus.

@@EliInfante Fair enough, and I figured you wanted them on for the video, but it might be helpful to mention the use of modeling lamps to pre-visualize the lighting. Some beginners might assume this is the only way to shoot.

Lightmeters give you a technical spec, they can't adjust for creativity. You end up changing away from what the meter tells you anyway when you want a specific look. Light meters are dinosaurs, useless unless you shoot film
