OK, I'm 53 and have been hunting squirrels since I was a child. Over the years I've harvested MANY hundreds, maybe even a thousand squirrels over the years and I've NEVER, EVER seen orange fat like that on a squirrel. Personally I would be very cautious about eating any squirrel with fat that color.
Hmm, maybe the diet. These guys were eating a lot of walnuts and mulberries, and maybe a bit of maple seeds and acorns. Mine all looked like this in the fall.
Where do you live? Up north of Chicago here, they'll freeze to death if they don't fatten up for winter. A lot of it does come off with the skin though...
Great video but I feel you're putting yourself at risk by leaving all of the fat and extras in there, and especially fur. Even though it was frozen and being cooked I'm sure there's some unnecessary risk to your health. Great video though, hope you're doing well.
