I like that zig zag look the stitches have. I'm going to make it in black and gray with a thick yarn for one of my good neighbors, and another for his wife, they are such a nice people.
I was thinking to make a small sample with two colors of a thick yarn to see if I have to modify the gauge, reduce some stitches and how many. But you tried it already and said the result was perfect, so I don't have to worry and loose time thinking this pattern is not appropiate for a thick #5 weight yarn. You make me save some time, thanks.

Roughly how long does it take to work a row please. I haven't crocheted before. I'm finding it easier to hold the wool in my right hand with the hook,is this ok ?
@@carolekratzke9500 Depends on how fast you crochet. It might take you half an hour to an hour. I can't say anything about holding the wool in your right hand, do whatever is easier and comfy for you
