Easy Cucumber Raita

Raita is an essential side dish for many Indian meals. This easy cucumber raita is light and refreshing with the beautiful flavours of cumin and mint.
Full recipe can be found below. I hope you enjoy this video!
INGREDIENTS
1 English cucumber, peeled, seeded and finely diced
1 tsp, cumin
Salt to taste
1/2 cup, chopped fresh coriander
2 tbsp, chopped fresh mint
2 cups, plain yogurt (Balkan, Greek, 3%, 2%, etc.)
METHOD
Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix to combine. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy! :)

I love this raita. I use it for the same purpose some american restaurants serve ranch with hot wings -to take the heat away... momentarily.

I just came to know that there is a yogurt type that’s .... BALKAN? Am I even Indian about yogurt that I don’t know this type? Thank you sister for letting me know about this type. Can you please suggest any American brand balkan yogurt?. ‘Cause I have no clue. It seems very appropriate to use this kind of yogurt as I know it would look and taste like sour cream and cottage cheese. Let me know if you know any American brands of Balkan.

you can just add onions if you like. dice them finely and squeeze out a bit of the water before you add them in

Unless it is full fat yogurt it is a complete waste of time. One cup has 8g of fat (and 8g protein), you will have 1/2 cup max per serving, and the fat binds all the flavors and spices together while imparting a great mouth feel. Don't miss it. Trader Joe's has a great whole milk "Euro style" yogurt that makes the best raita and tzatziki.
