Absolutely love the roller dancing because it's smooth, elegant and cool at the same time. I am looking forward for more of the roller dancing tutorials for beginners. Thank you so much for your awesome videos!
Hi Dirty, Just wanted to see out 2023 with an appreciation shout out to u and sharing ur🛼 awesomeness all the way Down Under. Keep on skating!! From a lil Bogan chic, who had a 30 hiatus from the Rollerskates until u gave me my skills to practice on our 1940s outdoor, beach side rink with ny rollertribe, in a coastal town in Queensland. May the Quad be with you 😅💙🛼4EVA!!!! 🎉
I love doing this Little dance move! I learned it from a lady I saw doing it at the skating rink. I was raving about how beautiful and elegant she looked and she was like “it’s just a little crossover and then you add a rock with it.” It’s so simple stylish at the same time. I love doing this to slow jams!!
Back again to learn more. Butt down gut up had me back skating real good I impressed my 13 year old. She went out to a car park to practice and I opened my new skates. We have a large living room so I cleared the rug and went at it. Took me all of ten minutes I am so shocked cos I remember when I was younger ,I was struggling to put one foot in front of the other ! Thankssssssssss
"Let the foot think its in charge... it's really the hip" made me LOL. Great advice. From someone who has just now gotten used to crossing my foot over, this video really helped visualize how to make this movement smoother. I feel like the coolest cat ever now, even if this is the only move I know on the rink 😂 Thank you!!!!!!
These videos are super helpful for breaking down weight movement to get the motion fluid. This really helps make a skating "practice" outside of the rink that drills skills.
You inspiring us to get back out there. We were the best skaters in all of Denver area, excelled in all 3 levels of skate class and invented our own moves no one else had. We will be back !
Omg, I love it! The way you explain things makes it so easy to get it. I will definitely have to start working on that the next time I can go to the rink. Great video! This is what I needed for skating backwards. Now that I have the skating backwards down. I needed something simple but something with a little bit of flare. I have always loved dancing and when you have music and skates it’s what I want to do. Move with the music! Thanks again! Love ya!
I have to work on not looking down thank you for this I love to do this all the time but get embarrassed cause it seem like that's all I do I needed to hear this 🥰
Thank you Debbie..To add to this, what I teach is..Take it SLOWWW...If you practice slowly, you build muscle density ,power, and precision. Before you move to the next position, make sure you are seated and steady, so if you're feeling shaky/about to tip over, you're not feeling confident. That is why I generally break each movement/combination down to 4 to 8 steps, and have the person hold the move. For example, one thing I did to perfect the move at 12:26 was to actually bring the right leg around slowly and hold it out, then bringing it around to cross the left. One advantage of that was a few times I am moving through the crowd, and I went to slip between two skaters from behind them, and all of a sudden the space closed. I somehow swung 90 degrees, planted on my right leg, outside edge, and swung my left leg out left s a counterbalance, into a one legged hockey stop. I still have no idea how it worked out yet like Debbie said, when the music is flowing and the crowd energy is powerful, all those basic moves we have to master make the difference.. master.them......... toe stop..t stop,,,plows..hockey stop, all of them backwards and forwards...front/rear pivots..drags..manuals front and rear.. Yes I am a skater/instructor..If you want, take a peek at a lot of area skaters back in 1996-1997 at Wollman Rink,NYC...and that was on concrete..yikes...no falling encouraged..
Awesome little move, thanks! I just tried it - it's the "over" part of the downtown. I also did it by doing the "under" part of the downtown. So 4 over then 4 under, simple but fun! I'll mix it in tomorrow night at our rink!
Hi Dirty- I am an advanced skater (in many ways) but I have my weaknesses!! The one thing that really gets me down is that I am still afraid to transition from high speed backwards to forwards!! I actually AM pretty good at transitioning from high speed forward to high speed backwards- or I used to be. I am getting back into skating so I am rebuilding some of my skills- for example a nice, fast spread eagle with power. I used to be able to haul ass doing that but now I am a bit slow.. At least I can still do it lol.
Dirty you are a doll and instrumental in the beginning part of my 16month skating journey. Can you please share your expertise in both the barrel roll transitions as well as slider skate moves. PLEASE!!!!
I can't seem to keep my balance to keep going backwards once I've turned. Roller skating not as popular here in UK other than roller derby. Would love to try a rink like that 🙂
Hi! I was wondering if you could teach some derby moves? I’ve recently started derby and while the trainers are amazing I would like your take on how to do stuff like run on toe stops and brackets. Thank you! You are amazing and basically taught me how to skate!
Thanks, im just back at it after 20 years. I wanna ask how to safely slow down speed and how always have good balance? Im always scared of losing balance and falling. Thank you 😊
I'm deathly scared of doing crossovers. Which is silly, since i am now more comfortable skating on a crowded beach or a street/sidewalk. Hopefully, this movement will help me be comfortable and with BOTH FEET
I have a question! Lately when I go skating I always get these gnarly blisters on my right heel. I'm assuming I'm putting too much weight on that foot, but i don't feel myself doing it! I feel the most confident I've ever whole skating lately, so idk what I'm doing wrong and how to adjust myself. For background I use Bondt skates, wheels and insoles. 30 year old lady just skating with her daughter st the rink. 😭
oh oh... battery on mic died or something got unplugged... just letting y'all know... Dirty was here in my ear, then she went somewhere... this is the second video... don't know if it's something technical with your mic.
