Semper Fi. Thanks for doing ALL of these videos. Holy cow that is a boost! Sounds like a completely different and better pedal too. I remedied this by removing my SD-1 and BD-2 and just using an MXR Power 50 to get that Marshall sound through My Katana MK II 100. This is a quick and cheap alternative/mod though.
I like using a clean channel on the edge of breakup and the Guv DS as a boost for raw distorted sounds. I've sold almost all of my Boss pedals, since I have almost everything I'll need in the Katana. I held on to this one and my modded DS-1.
Leave the clipping of the SD-1, you may want to try the best mode in (my opinion), remove all the switching components, diodes, transistors, caps and invest in a 3pdt switch to turn on the circuit directly, you may loose the flip flop switching function, but the tone, volume and overall clarity of the pedal is huge plus you get true bypass and eliminate the "leaking" issue this pedals have
@@brunom3478 I'm not sure, but I will say, if you like what it does now, I would leave well enough alone. The good old, "If it's not broken, don't fix it." things.
You are right. I played bass before switching back to guitar a few years ago. I completely avoided all things pedal related then, because I was afraid of the rabbit hole. As a guitarplayer I am being sucked into it all the time, I really hate it ... @@Guitarnivore
@@Guitarnivore yeah I huge into modding pedals, I only have a few that are stock and all the rest of my collection I've modified and added switches, and what not. I like having options. Those ceramic tweezers tell me your into rebuildables? Lol
@@tallenosborne If you mean rebuildable coils, yes. I used to vape, but quit about three years ago after using it to quit smoking 5 years before that .
