Refashion your old flannel shirts or scrap fabric into shabby chic, farmhouse, trendy little trees. This tutorial will work with any shape of styrofoam forms you want. You can make it as a wreath, Easter Egg, candy cane....pretty much the options are limitless.
I used primarily 3" x 3" and 2" x 2" squares of fabric. Keep in mind when choosing your fabric that both sides of the fabric will be visible in this project. Thanks for watching. Happy Holidays !!

This would be a great project to do as a memory tree from a shirt that belonged to a loved one that has passed on.

I came across this video & when I saw it was actually from 4 years ago I was happy that it found me!! I soooo love these trees that you have made with flannel. I lost my husband 4 & a half years ago & I have several of his flannel shirts & have been looking for something to do with them. This is the perfect thing!! As soon as I can get some pinking shears I will be making a few that I will leave out all winter. I hope this message gets to you so that you will know that you have made a new subscriber very happy!! thank you so much for the inspiration!! Merry Christmas!!

Depending on the tightness of the weave, and how tapered the tip, certain size knitting needles would probably also work. I have some old, cream-colored flannel, Feeling inspired to make cone from cardboard, pin the squares, and then 'flock' the tips of the tree with some gold craft paint. My decor accent colors are reds, greens so lots of small stash pieces to make bows, etc. Thanks for the fun idea!

Also using a small flathead screwdriver works well too. You can also do styro balls for ornaments.

What a unique and seemingly easy project. I'm very new to crafting but I think I can try this. Heck. I'm already thinking of doing a snowman with this method, See how cocky I've gotten already, LOL! I'll let you know if I make it through the tree first. Thank you so much for sharing.

These are beautiful well done. But I'd paint the cone 1st and maybe just use sewing/tacking pins at the top.

Want to mention that the very thin naugahyde (sp) makes beautiful wreaths using this method, so I'm sure it would work well for making the trees as well.

How did you keep your cone from breaking? I got a little less than halfway done, and my cone broke, which caused all of my fabric squares to fall out. I tried glueing the cone back together, but it didn't work. 🤷‍♀️

Wonder if you could paint glue or something on the top and let it dry , to make it stronger? Just a thought.

This looks very nice if you made one of these and sold it how much would you sell it for I live in Maryland and I think diesel very nice I watch somebody else make a rag one it's called out of strips and they caught it and tied it and that looks nice too you just use a coat hanger and go up the coat hanger with it so tell him you text me and let me know what you think and Tumblr blocks do you know anything about making ornaments with

A set of 3 trees together usually runs $45 and this is a great way to use up scrap fabric for any occasion :)

So anyway I was wondering if you know how to make anything out of something while they're called Jenga blocks similar Tumblr box whatever do you know anything about any of those you can get them at the dollar store I'm sure you see them but everybody's making stuff out of that I was wondering if you could help me out with that thank you

@AjsVintageDesigns
@AjsVintageDesigns 4 года назад
There is sound. I've checked from several devices and have had others check for me to make sure. You might have your screen muted. There are 3 locations to check this : 1) your internet tab at the top of your screen might have a / through the speaker image 2.) Bottom right hand corner of the video has a volume control 3.) On your keyboard you also have a volume control. You might have one of those muted for the video.

Like the idea. Too much pre talk for me though
@AjsVintageDesigns
@AjsVintageDesigns 4 года назад
Thank you Rita. All the pretalk was to explain the tools and materials and their importance along with what alternatives there are out there. The pre talk wasn't social chit chat, there was actually a reason for all the pre talk. I apologize if that bothered you, just know that you can also fast forward to the "meat" of the tutorials. Thanks again and happy holidays.
