Tammy did you know German Chocolate Cake is not "German" at all? It's actually named after the baker who invented it, a Mr. Samuel German was his name. When i lived in Europe near Germany I asked about German Chocolate Cake and everyone looked at me like i was crazy. They've never heard of it. No wonder! It is an American invention created by an American baker.

Usually with baking I won't use salted butter unless the recipe states it needs it. The recipe states only butter.

I only buy salted butter. I still add the salt if a recipe calls for it. A local baskery told me that's what they do, and double the vanilla whenever called for. It doesn't make the dish salter at all- but better.

Not sure but I have heard that salted butter won't spoil as quick as unsalted. Kinda makes since as salt is a preservative.

The amount of salt in each salted butter varies by brand, so using unsalted butter provides better flavor control. Beyond that, salted butter can have an adverse affect on texture and browning. That’s why they use unsalted then put salt at a specified amount in ingredients for bakery items.

Believe me, that’s the only earthquake I’d want to experience ever again! I lived through both the Sylmar and Northridge quakes, they are as scary as all get out! My Mom made that cake many years ago and I’ve never even eaten any of it and I don’t have the recipe either. Well until now. 🤗

Hi, I just found you while looking for a homemade biscuit mix recipe on google. went to your web site and thank you so much! i lost my mama 2 years ago and my auntie last year. they both cooked and I have learned alot from them but they NEVER wrote anything down.
