EASY FISHING. A short evening session on the Gt Ouse.

Easy Fishing

Just a very short, about 2 1/2 hours, on my local river. Target species were Tench, Bream and possibly Carp. I used a short pole to get good presentation and used a 8mm Halibut pellet for bait. I could have used bread punch over crumb but then i would get roach etc. My buddy did that and caught some quality roach and a Bream, but i wanted a Tench! The river has changed since last season with most of the weed removed which in turn has reduced the huge amount of natural food which supported a big head of big fish which is not great for the river!

Thank you, I wish I had my night lighting gear and it was obvious the fish had started their feeding spell right on 'bat o clock' and the pattern is often bream first then the tench come on! Ah well on to the next session Bill

@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 4 года назад
Hi night fishing can be very good especially if the water is clear. This river at the moment has turned coloured due to the weed being cleared, not the best thing, and it seems to produce more bream when it is coloured Bill

Well done on the content and it's great to see your subscriber count sky rocket! Well worth it, always great to see an old school Fisherman, you remind me a lot of my Uncle who gave me the passion for fishing, simple effective methods. Pure passion for fishing. Love it! (By old school I mean as a contrast to modern method + bite alarm fishing, I personally love quiver tip feeder fishing and pole!)
@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 4 года назад
Hi and thank you. Well I am a bit 'old school's, but I do use bite alarms on occasional session's if I need to. I even own a bivvy! Most of my fishing tho' is done in short sessions so I don't need bivvy's or bite alarms. I love seeing the float disappear or the tip pull round and get much satisfaction from this type of fishing. Bill

I plan on fishing this stretch a lot this season. Would you recommend any tactics for for fishing this stretch?
@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 4 года назад
@@respectablechum6875 Hi it is not hard to catch on here. Punched bread over likky fished close in will produce roach, bream etc with the occasional rampaging carp and tench. Best fished very early or late and the best tactic is the short pole. Bigger fish live further out in the main channels during the day but that can be reached easily with 6 mtrs in a lot of places and on some swims you can step off the side straight into 18 ft of water. Now the weed has been cut a feeder is another approach that can work. Avoid maggots as they can produce a nightmare with small fish but good fun on a light whip outfit. Lobworms over choppie can pull some huge perch to over 5 lbs, also there are odd solitary chub and loads of chublets, some very big carp inhabit the length as well well in excess of 30lbs! My favourite targets are the tench in the summer and roach and perch in the winter as there are a lot of them. The short pole is the best tactic and you will get the presentation to fool the bigger fish and bait wise to start is bread and lobworms, with pellet and meat in the summer but all baits will catch Bill

Bill makes me laugh when he says I hope I don't hook . A large carp. I have been trying for several years to catch a Thames carp without sucess. My nickname is mister slime have caught hundreds of bream!
@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 4 года назад
Hi well this stretch holds some very good carp and unfortunately I keep hooking them on roach gear which is not what you want! Now I don't fish the Thames for carp but I do know sections which produce plenty and if you are plagued by bream stop using pellets as they love them. Unfortunately even 20mm boiled can be taken but it does cut down on the number of bream you will catch. Bill

Alright bill , I’m going to a wild lake/pond I stumbled upon tomorrow and wasn’t sure how to fish it, it’s very weedy and over grown but I’ve seen decent size carp, any tips on how I can fish it?but ideally I want to be ledgering, cheers
@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 4 года назад
Hi first find the fish. Then you either need to find the clear spots that the carp feed on or rake a swim out. Now feed a small amount of bait just a few freebies in your spots and then watch to see how the carp respond. A chod or ronnie rig would be a good starting point with a buoyant bait, both are available from the shop ready made. If the weed is very thick you may have to use a rig that will drop the lead. You may get away with old school freelined flake but you need very light bobbins not heavy ones. Be confident in your tackle so you can heave if needed Bill
