A long term test and review of a Middy Muscle Tech 6 Mtr Pole. This is one of the latest generation margin poles on the market. It is not just a super strength margin pole but is a great starter/short pole that can be used for silver fish as well as monster carp. extendable with cheap spares anybody on a limited budget who wants a great pole should give this pole some serious consideration.

Bought a 10.5 meter pole from middy with 2 top kits and fit pole puller kits in both top kits!! both top kits snapped where the puller bung was fitted on 6lb to 8lb carp so yes don't drill holes in your top kits.

Absolutely love mine too Bill. Had numerous 20's, even a low 30 on it Carp wise. Love it so much so bought a second one for just £59.99 as on offer a few weeks back at GoOutdoors!

Bill yet another accurate and honest review. They are a rather special little pole. I bought one to take on holiday when they came out because of it relatively short section length. However my son borrowed it and didn't want to give it back... Fast forward to today and I've got three of them with extensions and spare top kits. My son still has the original and extra tops and extensions. I haven't tried them with more than 2 extensions yet and will have to borrow one more in the future to try the 9m. I have only done one top 3 kit for extreme use with puller bung. The remaining top 2's have middy side puller bungs in place. I can advise that they are ideal for fishing up in the water for carp or silvers. Think of the top twos as short shallow kits from other manufacturers, rigid and ideal for helicoptering short rigs. Buy with confidence it really does what it says on the tin.... Now the question remains is the 11m muscle tech pole just as good but longer....non of my local tackle shops carry them ex stock. A bit too much money to buy sight unseen when the drennan red 11m is significantly cheaper...

The 11m is just as good I can confirm. Again slim, light and super strong. Easy to handle for long periods without any issues. All my poles are Middy, from top end XZ65 to the Muscle tech 600. Always found them to be robust, and excellent value for money. To date no breakages either. My favourite pole in the range is the XT15-3 as its an all round pole that will cover any aspect of fishing. From big Carp to catching silvers on fine tackle, your covered straight out the bag. About £300 too which is a bargain in my book.

Great video Bill, very informative. Personally I'm not into pole fishing, nearest I get is with my Middy baggin whip which meets my needs. Caught quite a few roach, gudgeon, perch and dace using it with the flick tip.

@@delwigzieful Hi there, thanks for your comments to Bill, Great review. I'm seriously looking at purchasing this pole. I really liked the idea about drilling and using as a side puller, now having second thoughts after reading the comments . Just out of curiosity, did you elasticate your top 2 or did you use 3rd section like Bill? Do you use a rear fit puller kit too? Thanks

Hi RB these top kits in this middy pole are awesome there short as are all modern pole top kits now,and yes is the answer to your question i got mine made into puller kits but RB take your kits to someone Who knows what there doing,i use middy reacta core elastic in size 20 to 24 it's expensive £13-14 for 5metres but thats enough for 2 top kits,i have had carp to 32LB on this pole but i only use the pulla kit when the fish is running out of steam i see to many people using the pulla kit to early in the fight and they pull the hook out of the lip of the fish this pole is a little battleship i hav had so many big carp on this pole RB make sure you take the kits to a shop that knows what there doing hope this helps what part of the uk are you from RB,ALIEN

hi easy fishing, i really like your vids, and im really torn into getting myself this pole , just for margin carp and crucian fishing on pits, i usually use a method feeder when on comercial style waters,, and never wanted a pole, but i would think for 100 quid it could be a fun few days fishing if nothing else, can you please link me to your video where you use this pole, thanks

Scottish Angling Hi what I would recommend for a long starter pole on a tight budget is the Drennan Red Range 11 mtr Carp pole which retails at about £225 including one spare top kit. The pole is fitted with arguably the best side puller system on the market as well! Spares are really cheap, less than £30 for a top kit and other sections are very cheap! I have had one since they came out and can’t fault it. There are plenty of other makes around but in my opinion this one has the edge. Bill
