Another really enjoyable video! For someone like me recently returned to fishing after a long break it is a real pleasure to watch someone catching fish just for the fun of it. Keep up the good work!

Mark Askew . Hi glad you enjoy my video’s. Fishing should be about pleasure and I used to be a dedicated specimen hunter but while I still fish for big fish I get a lot of pleasure catching smaller species on simple tactics and this is what I try to get across in the video. Tight Lines

I fished like this on Thursday. But changed things , put AAA shot approx 8 inch away from hook. Had 50 Roach, Gudgeon and Rudd. Good day. Heavy shot stops float drift.

Great video Bill. Nice to watch an angling video that isn't trying to sell me something and isn't over dubbed with music. Iv got a pole but much prefer a rod so horses for courses I suppose. Only got into waggler fishing this year and have had a good year so far. I usually dead bait for Pike through the winter months but this year im targeting Roach and Rudd.

Just a thought Bill, I,m having trouble these days shotting a no8 dust, must be my age(50s), never mind a no10. I,ve started using Stots instead in no 9, alot easier to use if you have sausage fingers like me

Another enjoyable video. I have a question. After your line sinks, why do you flip your rod out of the water instead of lifting it out? Here in the States, I have never seen anyone do that technique and I know you have a reason for doing that but what? Thanks for sharing.
@cns180784
@cns180784 6 лет назад
Its to help sink the line.
@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 6 лет назад
p2g1949 . Hi the reason for this is to sink the line. If you are using a waggler, a float fished attached at the bottom only, you must sink the line to prevent the wind blowing it out of position which makes the bait behave unnaturally. I guess this is not a technique practised much in your country but try it with suitable tackle when using baits such as worms for fish like bluegill and crappie ( what a strange name!) Tight Lines

good tip: take a kids pond dipping net and if you get a small fish that you cant decide if it needs netting use the dip net, then you havent wet the big net

great video bill, i think some people just enjoy using a rod more than a pole. including me, even though i have seen the light with the whip. i first started fishing with a pole rig on a rod on the canal caught some great fish have you tried the kamasan B520 hooks? really good for waggler fiishing. they are super fine but iv had big chub to 4.5 without bending them out
@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 6 лет назад
BUSHCRAPPING . Hi thank you glad you enjoyed the video. I have used the B520 in the past and they are a good hook, just a bit heavier wire gauge than the carbon match. I carry to much gear as it is but in the past my daughter used a pond dipping net and it is a good tip for small kids on a budget. Tight Lines

Great video Bill and what a beautiful day. I missed this day as i was in Spain on holiday (got back a few hours ago) weather was sunny there every day in the mid 20's so cant complain but now i'm back going fishing tomorrow and surprise surprise only 13 degrees forecasted with strong wind but never mind! did a bit of fishing from the beach in Spain with a little rod and small round float but didnt catch anything (didnt fish for long). In this video where you said you cant get the presentation right for skimmers, why is that when you can still catch Roach, gudgeon etc? when i last fished i caught about four skimmers one or two of those about half a pound, and that day there was a tow on the lake the whole day, at times it was quite bad so i was having problems keeping the float still. Any tips for that? After you unhooked that skimmer, if you watch from 23:45 you'll see when you put your rod down, that your float is in the water obviously with bait still on the hook as you're getting bites lol, the float goes under about 3 times before you pick it up! when you was looking at the camera i was saying BITE at the screen pointing at your waggler lol. That shorter line seemed to be the best, guess with the warm weather and the sun the fish wanted to come shallow, if it was shallower there as i'm only guessing. I'm fishing a canal style lake tomorrow at a fishery thats quite well known called Bonehill Mill in Tamworth for the first time, should be fun. A very good days fishing there Bill and a nice Chub to top it off.

cns180784 . Hi glad you had nice holiday weather. I went for a three day break after catfish and carp and it rained every day and the fish shut up shop. My buddy and I were the only people on the lake to catch anything four carp to upper doubles and loads of skimmers! To answer you question skimmers can be very fussy feeders sometimes and I didn’t manage any better fish from the far line until the wind dropped and I fished overdepth to slow the float down. The inside line was on the slope of the boat channel so had a fair depth. If you have trouble presenting the waggler try using a thicker straight float and drag a couple or more number 10 or 8 shot on the bottom and make sure your line is sunk. Tight Lines

Hi Bill well to be honest i dont know if i'll ever fish the waggler again since getting my pole! but i enjoyed your video and the problems you can get with waggler fishing are the same with pole floats, only with pole floats you dont have to worry about sinking the line. Well yesterday was an odd day but in terms of the fishing it was good with plenty of bites and fish caught. I had red maggots, casters and corn also i used groundbait for the first time, Swimstim black which i mixed with caster and corn. Started off with potting in 5 balls of that, fishing double red maggot on the hook and the response was instant, fast and furious...constant bites, but they were tiny, i mean proper TINY little Ide but still nice little fish and i think i hadnt caught an Ide before. Caught a lovely Bream after it went a bit quiet must have been a pound and half maybe (didnt put up any fight, typical Bream but nice fish). In short i then tried one of my margins with corn to see what was there, nothing but i decided to stay on my margin rig to fish shallow close in, just with my top 3 (with my trusty Drennan Red Range pole) and then the Perch overload started...it was crazy. Constant Perch after Perch fishing shallow and quite close was catching them on maggots and caster, even on corn they were going for that and although i did hook one or two they bumped off...still pretty sure it was Perch as it seemed that was all that was out there, just an army of Perch! never experienced anything like it. However i did manage two commons and a mirror in between the Perch bonanza again caught short shallow. When i went back on my long line in the deepest part (just off the shelf where i potted in the groundbait) guess what? no more Ide or Bream...more Sergeants! maybe if i had topped up the groundbait there it would have drawn the Ide and Bream back in but i just decided to use the rest of my groundbait i had for the margins. The margins never produced any Carp though, just Perch. It says on their site that this snake lake i fished was stocked with 3 tonnes of F1's. Well if it was stocked with that many F1's then it must have been stocked with 10 tonnes of Perch! didnt catch a single F1 but when i spoke to the fishery owner he said i need to fish with pellets for them. But really? so there were hundreds if not thousands of F1's all swimming amongst the armies of Perch that were all ignoring maggots, caster and corn? isnt that a bit odd?
@easyfishing1936
@easyfishing1936 6 лет назад
cns180784 . Hi don’t stop fishing the waggler! What will you do if the fish are out of pole range? Sounds as if you have contracted “ poleitis “ a well known disease commonly afflicting those who are in love with the pole! On another note you should not be experiencing float control problems when using the pole if you are shorten the length of line between the pole tip and the float. If you are trying for F1’s try feeding very lightly and vary the depth you are fishing, anywhere between 6ins deep to maybe 3feet until you find the depth at which they want to feed. Tight Lines

Well to be honest even before i got my pole which as you know was back in March (i think or end of Feb) since i got back into fishing in November i only waggler fished once, the other times i fished nearly always the bomb except once i tried a maggot feeder. I plan to have a day on the bomb/cage feeder or maybe the method soon, think i may be a due a break from pole fishing at least to give one of those methods a blast! but i just love my pole too much at the mo. Just the ease and quickness of fishing with it, and how more efficient it is than any other method (thats how i see it anyway). There are people that are anti pole, i dont know why and it makes me wonder if they've even tried fishing with the pole before. What made me laugh though was one guy who i work with who used to go fishing a lot is anti pole, and he used to always go Carp fishing with his bivvy and bite alarms and when i spoke to him he said fishing the pole is the lazy way to fish. What... so casting your rods out and then sitting in your bivvy waiting for an alarm to go off is so demanding? lol the definition of Carp fishing is lazy imo a lot of people will just have sessions on the beer or whatever whilst waiting for their alarm to go off under their bivvies. Pole fishing is probably the most pro active form of fishing, i mean you're always having to hold your pole for a start! no rod/butt rests...and theres the lifting and dropping rigs, feeding with cups, shipping in and out, correctly positioning rollers, changing top kits for different rigs and elastics etc. But the main difference and what makes pole fishing in my opinion the most pro active form of fishing is the fact you have to hold the pole. With waggler/bomb you have rod and butt rests but you still have to watch your waggler or quiver tip for that...Carp anglers just listen out for their alarm whilst necking a beer under their bivvies! lol.

i have fished for over 40 years and pole fishing is uncomfortable the most uncomfortable i have ever done high end poles are also the same ,i see anglers twisted on their seat boxes at an angle ,leaning over struggling to hold the pole feed or move,using there leg to lift the pole on the strike ,i use poles on rare days on the canal but its not my idea of fun ,match anglers need them to compete ,i have in the past ,but people who say pole fishing is easy are not telling the truth unless fishing at less than 13 mtrs,,they kid themselves because of the cost ,but look at a match anglers face when he gets a swim that only needs 10 or 11 mtrs big smiles ,to me that shows the truth,poles are not comfortable to fish with over 13 mtrs i know,,,,

Found this online...It is an offence to take any native fish species away from a canal or reservoir under the 1968 Theft Act and Environment Agency Byelaws. If you witness anyone removing fish please call the Police on 101 and ask for a crime reference number. I think that's a *NO*😐
