Very good fix, this has driving me crazy this wobbling, had it for one year, but this fix works very well, and the positiv side its that it protect the gas bottel from the heat also. 👍
This is a great fix - thank you. Yes, I have the same wobble and it drives me crazy. And I always feel that I am about to break something in the connection and be without a stove in the backcountry. This fix will be put into place the second I finish my current jar of peanut butter - time to make a sandwich to speed this process up!
Good to know others have spotted this. I too have the original version as well and it is very stable so this new model contains a major design flaw in my opinion. I cured the wobble with a small piece of plastic wedged between the base of the metal valve (adjacent to the gas cannister screw attachment) and the plastic outer body (that contains the piezo sparker). I like your plastic ring solution though. You should not have to do this kind of botch-job on a piece of kit that costs in excess of £100 / $100 so Jetboil have got themselves a black mark against me purchasing any more of their gear.
I totally agree, Jetboils should not have this problem at the price that they are. I was very disappointed too. Your solution sounds like it works well!
I've had mine a few years and just put up with the wobble, as I'm the only one uses it. You can bet I'll be using this hack, though, to better stabilize my JetBoil Flash. Re: splashing - It creates so much heat so fast that if you fill it past the internal halfway mark--at least on my Flash--it tends to boil over/splash more than if you keep it at or under the mark. Thanks for making this vid with the lid hack!
I am in Oz and just got this jetboil after saving up for it! So disappointed with the wobble, can’t believe it. Thanks for keeping me company while I get over the disappointment. I’ve written to jetboil so I’ll see what they say, but in the meantime, good to know I can use your fix:)
Oi! Yes major disappointment! Hope they take your complaint to heart and fix this issue, I’d love to read what they reply to you. I imagine we are not alone in this issue. Hope the fix helps :)
Yeah i cut a piece of rubber into a sort of ring. its a bit less noticeable and the rubber ring can have other uses in the bush when not in use. So annoying
I have the jetboil wobble too! Lol so stupid. I swear mine was solid when I first got it. Thought I could tighten it with the tiny screw beside the burner control
I just think I found it - tiny broken screw inside connection. Recommendation - return to jetboil. Can’t work out how to show the photo I’ve got here:(
Yep same wobble here after a month and yes had my first accident because of it camping yesterday and I moved the can at the same time a gust of wind hit it and flames all up the side and melted the neoprene cover and my hand, not impressed
