Jetboil Stash Review: • Jetboil Stash - Watch ...
Hope you've enjoyed this review. Consider supporting the channel and buying me a coffee: buymeacoff.ee/roboutdoorprep
Optimised for 3-Season performance and engineered for lightning-fast boil, it’s the ultimate personal system for dehydrated meals, soups, coffee, and tea. I've used it in very cold weather as well, and it works but it's very slow - as expected.
Folded for greater heat exchange, FluxRing technology reduces boil time with half the fuel consumption of traditional systems.
The updated Flash sports an increased output (4,500 to 9,000 BTUs) and improved valve design. We shaved 1 minute off of boil time while maintaining Jetboil efficiency.

MSR Elixir is not on my shortlist, perhaps will to the Hubba-hubba. Elixir is ok-ish. I might be a bit spoiled now with the other brands. But if you're looking for a nice weather tent, not too much wind then you should be fine. Elixir is polyester which is slightly heavier compared to sil-nylon. Have a look at Nemo Dagger too - quite similar and often on sale :) Have fun!

It doesn’t have true simmer contro, it has an adjustable flame. Some may consider this a “simmer control”, but once you use a newer Minimo or something like that, it’s obvious it’s been redesigned to include a heck of a lot finer control over the low-heat settings vs. the older models.

I have the Jetboil Minimo , the pot support and a Jetboil skillet pan. Haven't had any trouble cooking with the skillet. Would recommend getting the Jetboil skillet as it has a fairly thick base which distributes the heat more effectively. Also I did not get the pot support when I bought the Minimo so I don''t think it is included. Admittedly I use my Minimo mostly to boil water but cooking something a bit more complex is an option, especially with the jetboil skillet. One of the great benefits of this system is also you don't really need any wind protection. Live and camp here in Iceland where it is windy beyone belief. Have never had the need for any kind of wind protection as the igniter and flame are inside a well protected system.

Second the Minomo. I have cooked many meals in it that don't involve boiling water. I frequently use it as a low heat frying pan. Ditch the lid, loose the plastic "cup" , and grab a wide titanium cup(ramen packets work just fine as a lid if your concerned about the heat loss. and I found titanium cup nearly the same shape as the plastic thing). You end up with super great flame control stove that is soooooo efficient. While it's about 4oz heavier than a pocket rocket, it easily makes up on long trips when I go for a few weeks on a small canister of fuel. On the pocket rocket I always had tough choices to make when resupplying on whether i should swap/bring a new canister. Now I can for sure go the week on the scraps left on some hiker box, half empty canister.

Make sure ignitor wire always points down at a 45 degree angle with about 3mm gap. Any closer (or further) and it won’t ignite the burner. I know this because I bought a returned unit (at a discount) with “bad ignition”. The wire was bent down too close to the burner. It sparked but didn’t ignite the burner until I bent the wire to the proper 3mm gap.

I was going to suggest purchasing a spare ignitor kit and to bring a lighter or matches (which I suspect most of us bring anyway) as both my Jetboil stove ignitors have failed. I love my MiniMo. They seem expensive until you price a burner, pot/insulator, bowl and canister stand and you realize it's not that much more. I wrap my burner in a small camp towel and place it in the pot, with a collapsible cup and the whole kit fits nicely in my Optimus (H)EAT food bag insulator for transport. I also picked up the optional pot support so I can use it with a small fry pan or other pot. There are lighter kit options out there but otherwise, the convenience, durability, and reliability keep me packing it.

My Jetboil just malfunctioned (spectacularly alarming)this morning in a large way after 3 years of rigorous use. The igniter failed after 6 uses The lid & cup failed after a year losing their grip - no I never replaced them just adapted to their failure. Orange heat indicator quit after 2 years. And valve failure resulting in 2 foot ball of flame after 3 years. No damage done although I'd have preferred my cup of coffee as a wake up. Suggest replacing unit every 2 years if used rigorously.

Great detailed review! Well done. Why the hell is it so hard to have a valve that will simmer? All stoves should simmer. Full stop. Ridiculous. Other than that, these are so cool and so well designed. Ive retro fitted other stoves with springs and wire to secure the stove tightly to just about any pot for suspended use, but it's nowhere near as easy to use as this. Not bad for the price when you consider the pot is included.
@OutdoorPrep

Haha no it’s not 😂 the Flash is unregulated. It might seem like you can control it a bit, but not as precisely as on the other ones. Maybe you have the MicroMo. It looks like the flash 🤷🏻‍♂️ The gas leakage is also very normal, it can be with any stove and also depends on how full your can is and the temperature and how quick you are. I can’t see the benefit of Jetboil continuing to sell burners without a proper regulator. It just confuses customers who but the wrong Jetboil model and are disappointed with the results. This can only serve to damage Jetboil’s reputation and lose sales revenue. All of the Jetboil “-Mo” kits come with a gas regulator, giving excellent flame control, to allow fast boiling, cooking and simmering. Eg. Minimo, Micromo, Sumo etc. I bought the Minimo (comes with the pan stand) and the the skillet (frying pan), and I’m very happy with it.

Pretty much every bloke whose spent some time at unit had one, we all just shove the meals inside and boil it, no need for mess tins lad

Nice, except heavy. What is the weight? I guess about 4 x a soto wind master

@@OutdoorPrep so, can we use other brands of gas for jetboil stove?
@OutdoorPrep
@OutdoorPrep Год назад
Yes. Everything that’s made for a camping stove and has a screw on mechanism that fits. Brand does not matter because they don’t manufacture it themselves anyway. Just order the can with their logo.

I use the msr system and it 65% cheaper to buy. Pans are again over 60% cheaper and you can use any brand. The jetboil does boil water a little quicker but its not worth the additional dollars it costs. It is well made bit there are other systems out there for 65% cheaper that does it just as well if not better. Don’t get sucked in on the marketing!

MSR WindBurner - US$149.95 Jetboil Flash - US$109.95

One mistake you forgot to mention. Having cleaned it, and you want to put the cover on, make sure it is the correct way up. If not, part of the handle will burn. You can thank me for "deliberately" doing this so that you don't have to...

I have an MSR reactor - it's faster and bigger, it's a much better product in my opinion because it has a pressure valve to keep the flame constant when the gas canister starts to empty. It's also big enough to hold a boil in the bag MRE so you can cook one meal after another without making any mess. But it's more expensive!!

Flash does not have a regulator, therefore the simmer function is veeeery limited and unreliable.

A lot of marketing...much cheaper and simpler systems available. Buy this accessory, buy that and finally you end up paying at least double. Using a plain (lighter) burner and a set of pans is not that expensive and more reliable.
