I was able to sustain soft corals but make sure they are located near the center of the tank. Take care in knowing if they will tolerate various levels of flow because as we lose water due to evaporation the height at witch water leaves the filter will increase and the velocity of the water will increase. Try to locate sensitive corals to the center left of the tank so that the change in flow over time will impact them less. As for heating, the heat transfer from LED's is negligible. Hope this helped!
Im not sure what exactly your case is, but if the wire's came out of the switch you will need to re sotter the connection (sorry don't have time to figure out how to spell sotter I'm in class) feel free to send me a pic of the issue
