Thank you so much for making this video. This brings back so many great memories of going to Chi-Chi’s. My grandfather used to take me and my family there all the time and he always got us a fried ice cream. He passed away in 2004. After his service we went there and that was actually the last time I got to eat at the restaurant before they closed down. No restaurant comes close to their recipes. I’ve never been able to find a fried ice cream like the one they served. I’m so excited to try this recipe and share it with my kids and tell them about my memories.

I am totally going to make this. I have a similar memory. There is a place called Hacienda Del Rio here and they make the best fried ice cream and every birthday I would go there. I literally still go there every birthday. Best mexican restaurant.

The first (and only!) time I ever had fried ice cream was at Outback Steakhouse and it was delicious! It was our anniversary so they kindly gave us a double order at no extra charge! They used shredded coconut, though. This one sounds good, too! Probably more kid friendly than coconut.

oh my gosh! we grew up going to CHICHI's and to this day it was the best fried ice cream I can ever remember having. And the corn side dish was so good! We recently made this recipe but with Cinnamon Toast Crunch instead of cornflakes :)

Woot woot another recipe to try. Side note : Chichis does mean boobies in Mexico but not in all Latin America. So it always tickles me that it’s a Mexican restaurant

We had Chi-Chi's in Canada as well and my family still talks about all the special occasion dinners we shared there. Believe it or not, there are still Chi-Chi's in Belgium and they serve the fried ice cream!

I thought I’d never missed a Video, but of course, I missed my Birthday week, because I always take a vacation! And I missed my favorite dessert ever! Lol I was just randomly searching for Fried Ice Cream, because, like Josh, I also grew up going to a Mexican Restaurant in my area, and throughout my childhood and still now, this is the one that I dream about..lol Idk why I’ve never thought to make it until now?!? 🤔 But the fact that you have a no fry version, Josh, that’s absolutely incredible!! That’s like so much less mess, and less melting of the ice cream!! I have a question Josh, did you always think that was coconut fried on the outside, or was that just me? I grew up going to Chi-Chi’s too. That looks exactly like their fried ice cream. I think they may have put some honey on top of it too if I remember correctly. Boy, now I wish they were still around.

Great recipe but why does ange look different?

I just had to share that when I was little I loved the circus and there was this clown and his name was Chi Chi. I loved him so much that I even named my plush chihuahua Chi Chi and I would carry him all over the place. It’s a little weird when I think about myself as a kid saying Chi Chi everywhere I went because I lived in a predominantly Spanish speaking town. 😅😂
