Rates for an hour: 29 magma cream 53 ochre froglights 35 pearlescent froglights 55 verdant froglights 4 ghast tears (Bedrock only) 5 gunpowder (Bedrock only) I'm at Y=114 and I haven't done any spawn proofing in the areas around me.

Hi. Thank you for the video. What is your drop rate? I built this at Y 63 in basalt deltas, but near nether waste. I'm on normal and it took an hour to get 64 of each light. I put slabs all over the area outside, but the magma cubes don't spawn as frequently as another farm I tried in the past using an iron golem

I haven't done a rate test. It feels fairly slow to me, but I'm impatient. :) I would definitely suggest building it near the nether roof, though. There are more caves and hidden platforms down below.

Are you sure it's powdered snow? Regular snow would melt, but powdered snow should just float there.

How did you know where to build the farm? Just in the biome where the gray particles are?

Yup. Every nether biome has different particles or different color at the end of sight range.

Can someone explain the biome portion? I’m getting that I need to be in a specific biome but I did not catch the exact biome. I’m new to building farms so many of the specific mechanics to things are still fairly new to me and help would be appreciated. Thank you

You need to be in the Basalt Deltas. Look for the gray particles floating around the air. Those will tell you you're in the right spot.

Aside from the fact that I'm playing Bedrock and can't build on the Nether roof, no, not really. This is already directly under the roof, so you're not going to gain much efficiency building it five blocks up. If you built it 50 blocks above the Nether roof, then you might see noticeable gains.

wait, all the froglight farms rely on the bastion spawners? really? I did something similar to this on my Realms world with my friends, except my frogs died because I forgot to remove some magma blocks lul

A lot of farm designs around are for spawners in bastions, yeah.

The biggest reason is usually not being in the right biome. Or too close to the farm. If you're on Bedrock, you may just need to log out and log back on to reset mob spawning.

how do you stop mobs from spawning inside this 11x11 area? or the small magma cubes on the rail underneath it?

The other mobs don't spawn in the biome. And nothing can spawn on rails.

@@phrebh hmmm ok thats bizarre then, as I'm seeing the various piglins spawning on the basalt "base", and every now and then, I find the smallest magma cubes on the rails - the whole area is solid as well. I've checked I'm definitely in a basalt delta as well. Oh well, I'm still getting foglights so it still works lol

@GTRoberts To me that suggests that part of your platform is in a different biome. And maybe you're missing some rails? Mobs can sometimes be weird with solid blocks, but I've been using farms like this for a couple of years and have never seen anything down on the rails.

What height is best for the farm for both magma cube and ghasts?

Technically 120 so the bedrock block ceiling is just showing, but anything above 110 is going to work well and reduce the chances of being attacked while building it. Rates will improve if you spawn proof below, of course.
