If you own any device in the Google Pixel 9 series then I can show you how to access Safe Mode on it.
#android #pixel9
from power menu
We'll begin, by first pressing and holding the Power button for a few seconds to bring up the Power Menu.
Then you're going to want to perform a tap and hold gesture on either the Power option the the Restart option.
If done correctly, you'll see the Reboot to Safe Mode dialog box appear.
And tapping the OK option will power cycle the Google Pixel 9 Pro and take you into Safe Mode.
Just make sure you aren't pressing any of the hardware buttons during this process
And you'll see that after you unlock the phone, it will say Safe Mode in the bottom left corner here.
via hardware buttons
Now what if you're unable to boot the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL into Android
Yet you still want to test out Safe Mode to see if it's a 3rd-party application that is causing the issue.
Or maybe you just want to access Safe Mode from a powered down state.
We can do this as well.
So, if you're in a bootloop, you just wait for the phone to reboot on its own
But if your phone is powered down, then press and hold the Power button until you see the screen light up.
Now, we're going to wait until you see the Google logo
And as soon as you see it, immediately press and hold the Volume Down button
Continue holding this button down until you feel the phone vibrate.
It will the be safe to let go and wait for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold to complete the boot cycle.
If everything goes smoothly and you timed it correctly, then you'll see that Safe Mode watermark in the bottom left corner of the screen.
what is safe mode.
So you may be asking yourself, what is Safe Mode good for?
Because while you have Safe Mode enabled on the Google Pixel 9, all of your 3rd-party applications will not be accessible.
The icons will be grayed out and trying to open them will result in an error message.
And this is actually a good thing.
Many of us within the Android community will use Safe Mode to help troubleshoot various bugs we have experienced.
So, for example, let's say you have noticed your phone is heating up too much. Even if you're not really using it for anything.
Or maybe you suspect the battery life has been draining much faster than normal.
Then it's a good idea to boot your smartphone into Safe Mode to see if those issues are still present.
If you notice the phone is no longer generating excessive heat. . .or that the battery drain has gone back to normal.
Then it's safe to assume there's a 3rd-party application that is causing the issue.
Maybe the app is getting stuck trying to complete a task in the background.
Or maybe it's just poorly coded and was not optimized well at all.
Your next task would be to reboot out of Safe Mode and then disable these 3rd-party apps one at a time until you find the culprit.
exiting safe mode
So how exactly do you disable safe mode on the Google Pixel 9? That's actually really easy.
I recommend pressing and holding the Power button to bring up the Power Menu again.
And then just doing a regular Restart
But you can also expand the Quick Settings panel and tap on the Power option
And then power the phone off or restart it from here.
As long as you aren't pressing the Volume Down button during that boot cycle, then you should exit Safe Mode just like that.
You can always check the bottom left corner for that watermark to see if you're in Safe Mode or not.
But you are probably going to notice the grayed out icons much quicker
conclusion
In rare cases, I have seen that devices can end up getting stuck in Safe Mode.
Even if there aren't any hardware related issues with the device.
I've noticed this more often in devices from China as they tend to use cheaper hardware that can result in corrupted filesystem data.
But it can still technically happen to the Pixel 9.
If that is the case for you, your best bet is to perform a factory data reset to fix the issue.
But you could also try flashing firmware files via the Android Flash tool as well. However, that recommendation requires an unlocked bootloader to work.
